NEW THIS YEAR: Recycling and composting stations in cafeterias
New propane school buses come with seatbelts
Students riding our new propane-powered school buses will notice a new feature: seatbelts. These lap-shoulder belts must be worn by all riders, as required by state law. As we continue to replace our large-capacity buses, they will also be equipped with this important safety feature. Please watch the video with your student to learn how to properly use the seatbelts.
Every day counts: Why attendance matters
Regular attendance is crucial for your student's success at Everett Public Schools. Being in school daily helps students stay engaged, build relationships, and develop essential habits for the future.
Understanding absences
Absences, whether excused or unexcused, can impact learning. An absence is any time a student is not at school for part of the day.
Attendance Policy and Procedures
Everett Public Schools' attendance policy outlines our expectations for student attendance. Students are expected to be in school for the entire day. We encourage you to review our Attendance Policy 3122 and Procedure 3122P to familiarize yourself with our guidelines.
If your student is absent, it is your responsibility, as a parent or guardian, to notify the school and provide a valid reason. For more details on acceptable reasons, including religious activities, please refer to Procedure 2340P.
Leaving early during the school day
If your student needs to leave early, please minimize these instances and follow proper procedures by providing a valid reason.
Importance of parent/guardian involvement
We deeply value our partnership with families as we work together to support your student’s success.
For questions on your student’s attendance, please contact your student’s principal.

School safety: A team effort
At Everett Public Schools, we believe schools should be places where our students, staff, families, and community feel safe. Our commitment to creating a safe and secure learning environment starts with strong teamwork.
Campus Security Officers (CSOs) monitor campuses during school hours to prevent unauthorized access, deter illegal activity, assist with investigations, supervise students, and share information with staff and students concerning safety measures.
School Resource Officers (SROs) are police officers who serve secondary school campuses while schools are in session and partner with principals to improve safety by identifying, investigating, deterring, and responding to incidents that present a significant threat to safety and security.
District Security Staff monitor campuses after hours and on weekends to prevent unauthorized access, ensure campus security, deter illegal activity, and respond to alarm notifications.
Safety and security staff work to build healthy, positive relationships with our students, staff, and community to ensure a safe school environment for learning. Learn more: www.everettsd.org/safety.
