West Oxford Owl
September 13, 2024
I visited Ms. Ochoa's class at the end of the day this week, and they shared that their daily affirmation to be present in mind, heart, and body. It made me think about the way I am present at school, with students, at home. What does it mean to be present in our mind and heart? How often am I simply present in body? Let's strive to be present in all we do in mind, heart, and body, just like these students.
We had so many grandparents come out for Grandparent's Day lunch on Thursday! Students were so excited to host each of you at school, and it was a joy to see so many families here. Progress reports came home this week. For many of us, there is much to celebrate, and for others, we hope it encourages students to do their best work. If your student is in third through fifth grade, we can provide you access to Infinite Campus so you can track their grades in real time. If you need help getting set up, please let the office know.
We are so excited to announce that Granville County's first electric school buses will. be assigned to West Oxford this year! We can't wait to try them out in October!
Hispanic Heritage Month starts on September 15th, and we will kick off with a spirit week this week!
Our PTO Candyman fundraiser closes on September 16th. There are different levels of prizes for the number of items sold. Please support our PTO!
September 17th is our first All Pro Dad's breakfast for PK-2nd grade students. The All Pro Dad's breakfast for 3rd-5th grade students is October 8th. We will provide breakfast for everyone who returns their RSVP form on Monday.
PTO will host bingo night on September 27th from 6:00-8:00. Come join us!
Mark your calendars for Title 1 Night on October 8th from 4:00-6:00. We will celebrate Hispanic Heritage month.
The weather is changing. We know that students wear jackets in the morning when it is cool, but many jackets are abandoned as they warm up throughout the day. Please put your child's name in the jacket so we can help them get home at the end of the day.
Please make sure that you are reading with your child for 20 minutes each night. Happy reading!
