Congrats to all the Tiger Pride award winners.
Celebrating Indigenous Peoples Day at LIS
On June 20th, our school community came together to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day with a vibrant and meaningful event that honored the culture, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous peoples. Students gathered on the lower field to take part in an afternoon filled with music, dance, and connection.
We were fortunate to witness powerful performances of song and dance that reflected the deep roots and enduring spirit of Stz'uminus culture. These moments not only entertained but also taught our students the importance of respect, history, and cultural appreciation. Following the performances, students enjoyed a hot dog lunch.
A HUGE Huy'ch'qa goes out to Ms. Blake and Mr. Cameron Park for organizing this special event.
Huy’ch’qa to everyone who participated and supported this celebration of Indigenous heritage and pride.
Air Band is almost here!
• Tickets are being set home today to families that requested them through order forms. We are completely sold out and will not be taking any more orders. Thank you for your support!
• If your child is a performer in the show, please have them at LIS at 5:15 pm to prepare, already in costume with any makeup (if needed) already applied. They will enter at 5:15 through the southwest outside doors beside Ms. Lydersen’s classroom.
• For guests, the outside doors to the gym (on the west side) open at 5:40. The show starts at 6:00 and ends at approximately 7:30.
• Please don’t forget to bring your tickets as they are needed for entry. Donations will be accepted at the show. All money raised goes towards next year’s performing arts productions at LIS. You may want to bring a water bottle with you, however food and other drinks are not allowed in the gym.
For up-to-date information (including information about radio theatre summer programs that Mr. Michalopoulos is running in Nanaimo in July), please check his performing arts website at…

Spirit Days – Let’s Celebrate the End of the School Year in Style!
As we approach the final weeks of school, we’re turning up the fun with Spirit Days! These themed days are a great opportunity for students and staff to show their creativity, build community, and make lasting memories together.
Here’s what’s coming up:
-
June 26 – Beach Day:
Bring on the summer vibes! Wear your beachy best—Hawaiian shirts, sunglasses, sun hats, or flip-flop flair (just make sure it’s school-appropriate and safe for play).
Let’s make the last few weeks of school unforgettable! We can’t wait to see all your amazing outfits!

🚴♀️ Tour de Rock Visit – September 29, 2025
Mark your calendars! The Tour de Rock riders will be visiting LIS on Monday, September 29, and we have something special planned. Former LIS student Ella Donovan (now at LSS) will be returning to shave Mr. Vincent’s mullet—yes, it’s finally happening!
We’re also thrilled to share that one of this year’s media riders is Mackenzie Read, a proud former Ladysmith student. She’ll be riding alongside police officers and fellow media members as part of this inspiring journey.
If you have any questions about the fundraiser or want to get involved, feel free to contact Mr. Vincent at daniel.vincent@sd68.bc.ca or call the school office.
Let’s rally together, LIS! 💛

Attendance
We ask parents/guardians to call the school before 9:00 am at (250) 245-3351 or email Info.LI@sd68.bc.ca to notify the school of your child’s absence. Please follow up with a note to your child’s teacher when your child returns to school so the teacher can address any missed work, homework issues, etc. Also a reminder that if students need to leave early, they should be signed out in the main office.
School Closure
The following is a reminder about the NLPS school closure procedure for students.
If schools are closed due to snow, or any other weather-related problems, announcements will be made on local radio stations (WOLF 106.9 FM, WAVE 102.3 FM, and 91.7 COAST FM) by 7 a.m., or earlier, on the day of the closure. Please do not call the radio station – tune in and listen for the announcements, which will be made on a regular basis.
In addition, the district will post the information on the district’s website, Twitter, Facebook, and mobile app. Families may also receive a message through the School Messenger notification system via phone, email, or text. Please keep in mind, however, that there may be situations where this is not always possible, for example, power outages or technical problems. The most reliable method is to listen to the local radio stations.
