Welcome back to school! Whether you are new to our school or IB Class of 2025, we are excited to welcome you back to the IB World School at Plano East. Our teachers are excited to get started, our new counselors cannot wait to meet you, and I am looking forward to another great year!

The purpose of this brief newsletter is to welcome you and give you a heads-up on some IB, Plano East, and district news you can use. Some of this information can be found on our IB website, pisd.edu/ib, and also Plano East's website, pisd.edu/pesh.

We are excited to host an orientation to our new students (and parents) this year. Our IB seniors are hard at work developing a welcoming and informative presentation for our new students, and our IB Booster Club will host parents in the IB Commons while students attend their sessions.

Tours will begin at 5:00 pm, and our welcome will begin promptly at 5:30 pm in the theater.

Our IB Booster Club is ready for support from the IB Community! Membership is good for one year and includes student and parent programs, scholarships, special events, PSAT/ SAT/ ACT practice tests, teacher & staff appreciation, school celebrations & donations, spirit wear, a members’ online directory, and more!

Ms. Lehman was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and raised in Glendale, California. She received her undergraduate degree in Education at The University of Kansas- go Jayhawks! :) She received her Master's Degree in School Counseling at Emporia State University. Before moving to Texas in 2020, she taught 7th/8th grade Language Arts for 14 years and served as a 9-12 high school counselor for 7 years.

Ms. Lehman has family in two states - Texas and Kansas. She moved to Texas to be closer to her mom and her three brothers and their families. Her goal is to be the "cool aunt" to her nieces and nephews! Her son Zach and his wife are expecting a baby in the fall, and she is excited to meet baby Everett.

She loves to read books of all genres, do crafts, cook for people, and hang out with her family and friends.

She thinks the most exciting thing about working with the IB community is the focus on the whole learner where the student not only learns the curriculum but also develops a care for the world around them and focuses on how to make a positive impact in that world. She is excited to be here at Plano East and looks forward to working with the IB students for many years to come!

Mrs. Hoang was born in Vietnam and raised in the DFW area since 1981. She is a graduate of Texas A&M (BBA Marketing), U of Houston (BBA in MIS), Lamar U (Masters in Teacher Leadership), and Amberton U (Masters in School Counseling). She has had a diverse career which includes being a credit manager, an IT project manager for an airline company, and a middle and high school math teacher. Before joining our counseling team in 2020, she spent 5 years at Plano East as an academic specialist and 12 years prior to that as a math teacher. She loves being an IH/ IB counselor because every day is different!

Mrs. Hoang is married with 3 kids aged 23, 20, and 18. Her son is a graduate of UT Austin and is now adulting in the Tech world in Seattle, WA. She also has two daughters who will be attending Texas A&M University -- one will be in her third year and her youngest just graduated from Plano East and will be a freshman this fall. She is now an empty nester and looks forward to enjoying it. Given the opportunity, Mrs. Hoang loves to travel, especially to beaches and tropical places.

The IB World School has existed at Plano East since 1995. This year we proudly serve approximately 600 students at four grade levels.
