Keeping you informed on important dates and information.
January 13, 2025
Congratulations to the Nipmuc DECA Chapter
Nipmuc DECA had a very successful day at the District 9 competition at Nichols College last Thursday. We had 142 students participate in the conference and 68 of them qualified to compete at the State Career Development Conference in Boston in late February.
For many of these participants, it was their first time competing in a business competition. We are very grateful for the families and community who have assisted in preparation and support, and all of the students returned feeling good learned a lot from the experience.
Parents/Caregivers: Important Survey Request Ends This Week
We are still looking for your help in responding to this survey as part of our school’s upcoming accreditation collaborative conference if you haven't already done so. All responses need to be submitted by Friday of this week and we would appreciate your help.
We are true believers in the value of accreditation in supporting ongoing growth and reflection. Having your feedback is an important part of the process.
The survey will take approximately 5 - 10 minutes. It requires at least 25% of our parents/caregivers to respond in order for the data to be valid. The survey will remain open until January 17, 2025.
We greatly appreciate your help! Once you’ve submitted, you’re invited to enter your name in a raffle to be eligible to win Nipmuc gear! The winner will be drawn on Tuesday, January 21.
If you are a student, we will be asking for your feedback later this week with a different link/survey.
Thank you in advance for your participation.
Student Feature: Mastery Learning Record Week 2
This week we continue our series of student features focused on Mastery Learning Records from the Class of 2025. Check out today's video highlighting Lily Killeen and Arlo Gibbons who are another two Nipmuc students that were able to show their extra curricular interests and passions outside of school through their MLR.
Looking for background about Mastery Learning Records that will help you in preparing for the next three weeks of features? Check out this intro video that tells about the movement to competency-based credentialing and the global effort to tell a new story of success in our schools.
James McKinney Becomes The Latest Member Of The Nipmuc 1,000 Point Club
This past Monday, Nipmuc senior James McKinney became the latest member of an elite group. James scored his 1,000 varsity point in the 3rd quarter of the boys' win at Whitinsville Christian. James is the 8th Nipmuc basketball player to reach this milestone and the 1st since Kyle Downing (Class of 2018) did so during his senior year. Congratulations James on this great accomplishment.

An Important Message from the School Counseling Center
Signs of Suicide (SOS) Training and Screening
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope this email finds you well. On January 27, 2025, Nipmuc students in 9th and 11th grades will participate in the Signs of Suicide (SOS) training and screening program. Simultaneously, 10th and 12th-grade students will engage in lessons centered on mental wellness and building resilience.
The SOS program is designed to increase awareness of suicide risk and depression among students and to provide them with tools to respond to signs of crisis in themselves or their peers. This program is an essential component of our commitment to creating a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
As part of the training, students will receive valuable information on recognizing the signs of suicide and depression, as well as guidance on how to seek help for themselves or their friends. The screening is a proactive measure aimed at identifying students who may be at risk and connecting them with appropriate support services. We encourage you to visit www.sossignsofsuicide.org/parent for information on warning signs for youth suicide, to access useful resources, and to learn more about the key message all students will learn in class.
We understand that this is a sensitive topic, and we respect the individual preferences of our families. If you do not wish for your student to participate in the SOS training and screening, please take a moment to email their school counselor. Opt-out requests must be received by January 24, 2025, to ensure appropriate arrangements.
Thank you for your support and partnership as we work to prioritize the well-being of our students. If you have any questions or concerns about the SOS program, please feel free to reach out to your student’s counselor.
Best Regards,
Nipmuc School Counseling
