ALL GRHS STAFF AND STUDENTS MUST BE PROPERLY WEARING A MASK AT ALL TIMES IN THE BUILDING (EVEN IN THE CAFE - UNLESS EATING DURING LUNCH - AND STILL MUST BE SOCIALLY DISTANCED by sitting 4 per table). Students refusing to wear their mask will face consequences.
A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,
This week (ON TUESDAY) starts our final six weeks of the 20-21 school year! If you chose to switch back to face to face or you are going virtual this will BEGIN ON TUESDAY, so that Skyward can finalize grades and roll into the new six weeks. See you Tuesday, if you are coming back!
Seniors....I am going to fuss a little
School is not over, but after I was looking through these 5th six week's averages, it looks like SOME of you might think so. You better kick it into overdrive for the 6th six weeks....or you may not need your graduation tickets. You will instead be enrolling in summer school just to complete the needed graduation requirements. Not CHOOSING to do anything and expecting your teachers to hand you a grade is not going to happen. No pass, no play is still a thing....and we STILL have UIL Regional and State events to participate in and WIN! Don't let your teammates down! You are much...MUCH better than that. I totally get that this year has been hard (it has been for us too), I get that you have Senior-itis (that's normal this time of year), but at the end of the day YOU are the ONLY ONE that is responsible for how this will end! Choose to STICK WITH IT and FINISH STRONG and make your family proud! I love you, and I want to be there to celebrate all 695 of you as you finally get to walk across that stage on May 22nd before your next adventure begins!
Senior Weekly Updates:
Seniors and Senior parents please be checking your LCISD/Skyward listed email at least twice a week for emails from me, this last six weeks is going to fly by and there are deadlines that you can't miss! Two emails went out this past week, and more coming this week!
PTO Still Needs A LITTLE MORE Help for Staff Appreciation Week! Thanks to those who have helped, you are the Best! The first week of May (for Staff Appreciation) our amazing PTO is wanting to plan a couple of treats for our hard working staff-amily so they could REALLY use your help! They are working on raising enough funds to treat our GIANT staff (of 210 people) with a breakfast and lunch during this week, but are needing a little help from our supportive Longhorn parents to MAKE IT HAPPEN! This year has definitely been a challenge for everyone, so any little perk completely makes our day! Donations can be big or small...we TRULY appreciate it (and YOU) all! Thanks for helping our PTO spread the longhorn love for the final stretch!
There are two ways to donate.
- PayPal: Here is the PTO 's email grhspto@gmail.com. Just go to PayPal and use this PTO email to donate!
- PTO member already? Use this link to donate: https://www.myvlink.org/georgeranchpto/donations1.php?c=319
Lamar CISD COVID-19 safety protocols- MASKS/FACE COVERINGS MUST BE WORN INSIDE all facilities and within 3 feet of each other outside. Keep being smart and stay safe by adhering to the face to face expectations by properly wearing those masks, sanitizing regularly, and following social distancing protocols to the best of our ability. We can't completely control COVID, but we can definitely slow the spread down, and that is A LOT! Any student refusing to follow the rules will be given disciplinary consequences, which will in turn affect their semester exam exemptions. Let's all do our part to keep GR the PLACE to be... especially for those of us CHOOSING to stay face to face.
Thank you so much to all our parents and students reaching out to your Assistant Principal for questions and assistance. Please CONTINUE to email your (or your student's) Assistant Principal , as they can assist you the quickest.

Winning State and qualifying for International Competition in Financial Services Team Decision-Making were the team of Alexis and Lantz Watts.
Finally, after 2 years of coming THIS CLOSE in one of DECA’s most strenuous prepared events (20-page paper/15-minute presentation), the team of Huda Zia, Ayat Monsia and Ruhi Dalal won a spot in International Competition for their win in Project Management Business Solutions.

Dress Code - YES, it still matters!
As it is getting warmer outside and I am seeing more shorts, skirts, and crop tops. I feel I am VERY generous, so please adhere to the few rules that I have. (I have included the visual again, just in case you needed a reminder). You may not like the rules, but they are still rules I appreciate you respecting them, as they are non-negotiable. Thanks for your support!
- T-shirts cannot cover your shorts, or that means your shorts are too short.
- Shorts and skirts should be at least 3-4 inches from your inseam (remember you are going up and down stairs)
- There should be NO mid drift skin showing between the BOTTOM of your shirt and TOP of your pant/short. Example: If you lift your arm to wave to someone and any skin shows, it's too short because the second you sit down at a desk it will be showing skin when you lean over to write.

TRACK!
BOYS TRACK! Check out @GRHSBOYSTRACK on Twitter for ALL the pics!
On Thursday night, the varsity boys track team participated in the District 19&20-6A Area track meet. With great performances from all of the guys, the success of the young men continued with many advancing to regionals.
In the 100m dash, Jefferey would finish 4th in the 100m dash to advance to regionals. Shane Gardner would win the 110m hurdles, while also placing 4th in the high jump to qualify for regionals in both events. He would also place 5th in the 300m hurdles barely missing regionals in that event. But missing regionals allowed for Ife Famogun to take 4th, while Bryce McCray would win the 300m hurdles. With only one participant in the 200m dash, Kyjah Savery was the area runner up. While in the 400m dash, both Cameron Chretien and Grant Celestine qualified for regionals with 2nd and 3rd place finishes respectively. In the 800m run, Jacob Curtis placed 4th, punching his ticket to regionals. In the field events, Henry Chukwu placed 2nd in the Long Jump to qualify for regionals, while Ryan Hall placed 5th, missing regionals in the shot put. When it came down to the relays though, the Longhorns continued their success. Placing 2nd in the 4x1 and first in the 4x2, the final event left the young men the opportunity to win the area tittle. Trailing by 15 points to Katy Tompkins, the young men had to win the 4x400m relay. Showing all resiliency and determination, the Longhorn's 4x4 was able to come out with the win, to declare themselves the area champions!!! Congrats to the young men for another team title. Good Luck at regionals!!
