Roadrunner Rallies
Our school counselors, Ms. Cotton and Ms. Plosch, and Ms. Linn did an outstanding job preparing for the Roadrunner Rally assemblies. It was so nice to see so many of our students recognized for accomplishments in academics, behavior, attendance, and specials. The teachers shared such thoughtful and meaningful words about each individual student and the students were so proud. I cannot wait until next marking period!
At the end of each marking we have these assemblies. We also invite parents and families to come and join us when their children are being recognized. We appreciate everyone who came out to support the children and really enjoyed the celebrations!
Morning Mingle - Arabic Speaking and Middle Eastern Families
Our first Morning Mingle was a huge success, bringing together over 20 of our Arabic-speaking and Middle Eastern families! A big thank you to all the staff who helped make this event so meaningful. Families and their children participated in an activity together and discussed the values that matter most to them in our school-community partnership. Families wrote these values on puzzle pieces, which our students will decorate and assemble into a display for everyone to enjoy.
We’re excited to bring this same activity to our Spanish- and English-speaking families, hoping to discover shared values that align with our school’s commitment to unity and community. This event also provided a chance to share information on what it means to be a Title I school, and families enjoyed some coffee, refreshments, and quality time together.
Below are the materials from the meeting for this individuals who were unable to attend.

Thank you everyone for helping us build a connected and supportive community!
Sports in the Community
Get Involved in Sports
We’re excited for another season of winter sports and activities, and I want to share how valuable it is for students to get involved! Participating in athletics and extracurriculars isn’t just about developing skills on the field or in the gym; it’s about building confidence, teamwork, and resilience that carry over into every area of life.
We offer a wide range of opportunities for students to find their passion, connect with peers, and challenge themselves. Winter sports and activities are around the corner, so I encourage all students and families to explore what’s available. Please click the link below to see the full list of opportunities. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or looking to try something new, we can’t wait to see our students get involved!
Repeated Reminders
Providing Identification
This is just a friendly reminder that all individuals are required to provide identification in order to enter the school building. In addition, parents and families who pick their children up from the bus must provide identification to the bus driver too. We have to make sure we are releasing children to the correct people and also that we know the individuals entering the school building.
Lost and Found
Kindly ask your children to check the lost and found if they have misplaced any water bottles, bags, or clothing, as we have noticed a growing collection of these items. Parents must check in at the main office before proceeding to the lost and found to retrieve any lost belongings. Thank you for your cooperation!
LCPS and RRD Event Calendar
We're excited to share the new LCPS and RRD Event Calendar for the 2024-2025 school year! This calendar includes important dates, events, and activities designed to enhance our students' educational experience. Please review it carefully and mark your calendars. We look forward to another fantastic year of learning and community engagement.
This is just an overview for the year. We will continue to share the important dates with times in the section above and more detailed information about events when they are closer.
There may be changes on the calendar throughout the year. We will be sure to update it and put out the changes.
Stay Connected and Informed
Exciting news! LCPS has launched a new app designed to keep families connected and informed with just a tap. The app allows users to conveniently access documents, news updates and emergency notifications in one place. It’s a must-have for students, families and staff, and is available for download from the Google Play or Apple App Store (just search for “Loudoun County Public Schools”). With this mobile-responsive tool, you can receive important updates directly from your school and stay informed on the latest features. The LCPS website and app also offer a centralized feed for all division news, events and announcements, providing a reliable way to stay updated than relying on multiple social media sites.

What's the Word with Mr. Burd
Good Evening Rolling Ridge Families,
It has been wonderful seeing so many of you in the building recently! From the excitement of the Book Fair and Bingo Night to the valuable connections during conferences, morning mingles, PEP events, and our Roadrunner Rallies—it’s clear that our school community is as strong as ever.
We’re looking forward to welcoming you again at our Veterans Day Assembly this coming Monday.
Your involvement plays a vital role in your child's success. The partnership between school and home is the single most important factor in supporting a child’s growth and learning. The stronger our bond, the more we can ensure that each child reaches their full potential. Thank you for your ongoing commitment and for being present with us on this journey.
Please continue to check the newsletter and other communications for more ways to stay involved. Together, we make Rolling Ridge an exceptional place for our children!
Always remember, "RRD is the Place to Be!"
Sincerely,
Mr. Burd
