Rocky Point Weekly Update
February 3rd-7th
Quote of the Week
Thank you for the Attendance Last Week
Thank you for each student’s excellent attendance this past week. We were able to successfully complete all check-ins for all 3rd through 5th grade students. We are looking forward to a wonderful month of learning during the month of February now that middle of year assessments have been completed as we readjust instructional facilitation to further meet the needs of all learners. Please be on the lookout for quarter 3 progress reports as they will be coming home with students this Tuesday, February 4. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
National School Counselor's Week
This upcoming week is National School Counselor’s Week. We are beyond thankful for our school counselor, Mrs. Kellie Sherwood. Please help us shower her with love this upcoming week!
Valentine's Day Gram
PTO is running a Valentine's Day Gram for our sweet students and staff! Parents and families may purchase a single gram or sponsor an entire classroom. Each gram will consist of a friendship bracelet. They are $2.00 for 1, $5.00 for 3 or $25 for an entire classroom. All funds raised will be used to support end of year celebrations for students and staff. Please reach out to Ms. Meredith Nance, our PTO President, at rockypointpto@gmail.com if you have any questions.
Rocky Point is Hosting Battle of the Books
An additional reminder that Rocky Point Elementary school is excited to host Pender County’s Battle of the Books competition on Friday, February 7. We are needing volunteers from 8:30am to 1:00pm. Please email Mrs. Norman, our media coordinator, at elizabeth_norman@pender.k12.nc.us if you are available to help during these times.
Pender County School Reassignment Request
In an effort to accommodate the educational preferences of families in the Pender County School District, officials have now opened the reassignment request period for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year, allowing parents ample time to consider alternative educational options for their children. Parents who wish to enroll their students in a Pender County school outside of their designated zone, with the exception of Pender Early College and Pender Innovative Learning Academy, are encouraged to participate in the application process. Due to schools in the Topsail and Surf City school districts being over capacity, no new applications will be accepted. The deadline for submitting reassignment requests is March 31, 2025.
Daddy-Daughter Princess Night
The HOSA club at Topsail High School is hosting its annual Daddy-Daughter Princess Night on February 8th from 5:00 - 7:00pm in the Topsail High School cafeteria. Ticket prices are $50 for each dad and daughter. Tickets may be purchased using the QR code on our Facebook page.
School Improvement Meeting
A reminder that our January School Improvement Meeting will take place this Wednesday, February 5th at 2:45pm as it was rescheduled due to our inclement weather.
Let's Communicate with Rooms
We are excited to share that 13 of our 19 homeroom classes have reached 80% of families connected in Rooms. If you have not been able to do so, please let us know how we can support removing any barriers to improve stakeholder communication.
