BEAR MAIL
Friday May 9th.
Hello BCE Community,
Thank you to the Parent Club and all the parents who spoiled the STAFF AT BCE this week. A special shout-out to Roxanne Morrill for all the organization and extra love this week; we all felt so special and supported. We all love coming and supporting such a warm and welcoming community every day. Thank you for making us smile and feel so special.
It is that time of year to get your feedback on classroom environments for your students for next year. Below is a Google Form you can complete if you wish. Please note that we do not take requests for specific teacher names. Classroom assignments are not ready till right before school. We will do our very best to consider your suggestions when building classes, but we also have to look at the big picture of the entire school.
We started State testing next week for our 3rd-5th graders. Please help us by ensuring students get a good night's sleep, have time for a good breakfast, and arrive each and every day. Make-ups are really challenging for both students and staff, so any effort you can make to ensure they are at school is helpful. Also, if the kids are here and working hard, they can earn tickets each day. Today, we had our first celebration where students could spend tickets and have a little fun for all the hard work. Ask your 3rd-5th grader how it went :)
Below are directions on how to register for next year. Each student needs to register to be placed in a class. You will receive an email for each student enrolled on Monday, May 12, 2025. Please complete the online registration ASAP so we can place each student. You will not receive a class placement in the fall without completing the online registration. Please reach out if we can be of any help.
We have our last School Site Council Meeting in the office on May 15 at 2:00 p.m. We will go over our school plan and goals for next year. We would love to have more voices. If you are available, please email me at gfippin@slvusd.org, and I will send you an invite.
Have a great weekend, 19 days till the end of the year :)
Happy Mothers Day to all the Moms.

Don't Forget the Rules for Drop off and Pick up
Drop Off and Pick Up
We have had several issues the past couple of weeks at both drop off and pick up. Please know that all of us out at the cross walk are only trying to keep our students and families safe. I wanted to remind everyone to please first be Kind and Patient. Here are a few reminders about pick up and drop off
- You can drop off on either side of Laurel Street.
- You can NOT drop off coming up on Lomond street.
- You can only leave your car in designated parking spots on Laurel street.
- Make sure you are not parking in front of our neighbors drive ways
- On Lomond Street, you need to park in the right direction. Buses are not able to get through when cars are away from the side and parked in the wrong direction.
- When walking down Lomond Street please use the sidewalk. We have had a few close calls with kids and parents walking in the center of the street.
Thank you everyone for helping ensure safety of all of our students. Below is the parking map again for reference.
Support our Bear Paw Store!
Our students work hard every day and are rewarded with Bear Paws.We have a Bear Paw Store about every 4-6 weeks. Our last Bear Paw Store is May 30th. If you are able, please consider purchasing items from our Amazon Wish List. Donations are appreciated!
Bear Wear!!!
We wear Bear Wear on Fridays!! Get your Bear Wear here to join in on the school spirit.
PBIS
Positive Behavior Support will continue to be a major focus for BCE this year. Our focus is on the BCE Way - Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible. We give out Bear Paws for making good choices. Bear Paws will be used like cash at the Bear Paw student store. Our first Bear Paw Store was today! Students had a lot of fun! Ask your BCE Bear how they earned Bear Paws.
