During this 1 hour session, we will review how to use your Milady Instructor Materials and lesson plans to the fullest in your classroom. Planning and preparation is the key to any successful lesson. Let's discuss the benefits of preparing with Instructor Materials, the tools you have access to, and to streamline your classroom prep. This session is for both new and seasoned instructors, there is always opportunity to flex your preparedness skills.
Presenter: Jessica George proudly serves as the Milady Industry Relations Manager. She is a licensed cosmetologist, educator, and training specialist with over 15 years’ experience in the beauty and wellness industry. Her experience includes working behind the chair, brand educator, fashion and editorial stylist, platform artistry, education director, and curriculum development in both salons and schools. She is passionate about education and inspiring others to follow their dreams. She has found the beauty industry has been incredibly rewarding as it continues to evolve. Jessica enjoys nourishing her plant darlings, rocking the world of beauty education and spending time with her husband and daughter.

- 11:00 am to 12:00 pm Aim to Teach Ballistics with Accuracy with Suffolk Police Department
- Forensic Technician Amber Rodeheaver will share information on how to incorporate ballistics into your crime scene investigations unit. When you leave this session, you'll know more about trajectory, shooting reconstruction, and other aspects of investigating crimes involving ballistics evidence.
- Presenter: Amber Rodeheaver joined the Suffolk Police Department in December of 2020 as a Forensic Technician. In that time, she has gained specialties in digital and vehicle system forensics, including certifications as a Certified Cellebrite Operator and Physical Analyst, and a Vehicle System Forensic Technician, Operator, and Examiner. Amber also holds various certifications in areas such as general instruction, IBIS/BRASSTRAX acquisition, shooting incident reconstruction, basic bloodstain patterns analysis, and clandestine grave/human remains recovery. Amber currently has a Bachelor’s degree in Forensic and Investigative Science from West Virginia University and will pursuing a Master’s in Forensic Science at Oklahoma State University starting in August.

VDOE Updates
The Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education is seeking nominations of former CTE students who qualify for recognition as one of the Commonwealth’s brightest Career Success Stars. The individual success stories will be featured as video profiles on the VDOE’s website, highlighting how CTE programs provide academic and technical skills for postsecondary success.
Nominees should be former CTE students in their 20s and 30s who represent each of the 17 career clusters as well as a U.S. military branch. Once selections are made, individuals will be contacted to schedule an appointment for a photograph and video recording session. Parents of the Career Success Stars nominees may also be interviewed and featured on the VDOE website.
Please complete the CTE Career Success Stars Nomination form for each former student you wish to nominate.
VDOE is still accepting applications.
