December 2024
From the Principal's Desk
We are looking forward to our Winter Stroll event on December 6. Please sign up to attend if you have not already. Photos with Santa are sold out, but there is still room to attend the event.
This week, attendance letters will go home to students who have missed more than 10% of the school year at this point (5 days). Each year I get several questions about this practice. These letters go home so that we are all on the same page regarding your child's attendance. Please continue to monitor your child's attendance so that absences do not become excessive. Additional excessive absences may require a meeting or further action. As always, our students are most successful when we all work together!
With the cold weather approaching we have a few reminders:
- Students will continue to go outside for recess, gym, and gross motor as weather permits, so please make sure that they are dressing appropriately for the cold.
- If you are dropping your child off at the Deal Avenue entrance, please make sure you arrive at 9:10AM or later. The doors will not be open until that time, therefore the students will be outside unsupervised if they come earlier. We also ask that you please drop and go quickly, as you have been all year. We will have an increased number of drop offs on cold days, and moving quickly will ensure that all students get to school on time. Students cannot be dropped off using the Main Entrance during arrival.
- For school delayed opening or closing information please make sure that all phone numbers are updated in the Parent Portal. You can also check the district Facebook page or website at www.btboe.org.

The Giving Tree
Each year our H & M Potter School Giving Tree helps to provide holiday assistance for those in need. Rather than specific gifts we are asking that if you are interested in helping a family in need please send in a $5-$20 gift card to Walmart, Target, Amazon, or 5 Below. This will help us to provide assistance to families in the most efficient way possible. This community project has been a successful part of the school for many years, providing holiday gifts to Potter children.
All gift cards purchased should be returned to Potter’s Main Office or sent in with your child by December 9. Please label the dollar amount, and mark that your donation is for the Giving Tree. We are unable to accept monetary donations or donations of toys at this time. Thank you for continuing to support our families.
