Good Evening K9s!
What a Fantastic Week We've Had!
We kicked off our first week of school with an exciting start! On Monday, we had our first school assembly, featuring a guest performer who put on an inspiring "It's Cool to be Kind" concert. Before the concert, students reflected on what kindness means to them, and during the performance, they sang songs about kindness. Some students even shared their reflections on stage. It was a heartwarming way to begin our school year!
This week, we also celebrated our first winners of the Principal's Award, recognizing students who exhibit our school PRIDE values. Additionally, we made birthdays extra special with our "birthday book buddies," where students chose a book as a gift to celebrate their birthday and foster a love for reading. We’ll be continuing our birthday book buddies throughout the school year to keep the joy of reading alive!
We wrapped up the week with a successful evacuation (fire) drill, where students practiced safely exiting the building in case of an emergency. All in all, it’s been a great start to the year!

iReady Testing Information
Plainfield Community Consolidated District 202 implemented the i-Ready Diagnostic assessment this year in grades K-8. The i-Ready Diagnostic is administered in the fall, mid-year and at the end of year.
You will receive a parent report from the assessment outlining your child’s progress in Reading and Mathematics. K-8 reports will be sent home following the testing window.
i‐Ready Diagnostic assesses the following skill areas:
Reading - Phonological Awareness, Phonics, High‐Frequency Words, Vocabulary and Comprehension
Mathematics – Number and Operations, Algebra, Measurement and Data, and Geometry
i-Ready is an adaptive assessment that presents students with questions that can be both too easy and too hard. It is designed to do this until the assessment finds exactly the level at which the student is performing. Therefore, students will certainly have seen some items above his or her level.
The assessment efficiently assesses students across multiple grade levels, allowing for identification of root causes of students’ struggles; or for identification of areas where a student is ready for further challenge. The results of the adaptive assessment provide teachers with an instructional course of action personalized for each student.
