Scorpion Scoop
September 2, 2024
A Message from Principal Hann
Scorpion families,
We’ve had a great start to the year, and it’s been wonderful to see the spirit and pride alive in our halls! It’s especially exciting to witness ALL of our students fully engaging in the culture of learning that we are fostering at Desert Edge High School. Here are a few reminders for the week.
Progress Grades for the First Quarter:
We will be posting progress grades for the first quarter this week. This is an excellent opportunity to check in on your child's academic progress. If you have any concerns or questions about your child’s grades, please do not hesitate to reach out to their teachers. Open communication is key to ensuring your child’s success.
Bus Registration Reminder:
A friendly reminder that all students must be registered in Edulog for their bus routes. The Transportation Department requires that all students have their IDs with their bus number on them starting Tuesday, September 3, to be able to ride the bus.
Our bookstore has been working diligently to print these IDs; however, we have about 40 students who requested new IDs for a bus number that is not currently registered in the system. It is crucial that these students are registered in Edulog immediately to avoid any disruptions in their transportation. Please take a moment to ensure your child is registered and prepared for their bus rides this week. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
We are thankful for your continued support of Desert Edge. We sincerely appreciate our parents and students for making this year so outstanding! It’s an incredible year to be a Scorpion!

Senior Games- Prohibited at DEHS
"Senior Assassins" is a common game played by seniors that entails students using water guns to “tag” their targets. Please be advised that the game of "Senior Assassins" is not a Desert Edge or AFUHSD sanctioned event. Participation in this game is prohibited on any district property, including parking lots and school events. Seniors are not allowed to bring water guns, water balloons, or any similar items on campus or to school events. Violations will result in confiscation of the items and could lead to additional disciplinary action.
We also urge you to be cautious in our community. Please do not chase cars, throw water balloons, or engage in any actions that could lead to dangerous situations due to the game. Please prioritize safety and good judgment.
Cross Walk Safety on Sherman
We have received MANY concerns from Basis families regarding our students jaywalking from the North Sherman gate at DE to the Rec Center. Students should be using the crosswalk at the corner. We have had security out there to redirect students to the crosswalk but continue to have students who ignore the request. We are working with GYPD to adjust pedestrian traffic flow when leaving campus. More information will be communicated in the coming weeks.
Please speak to your children about the need for safety when crossing the street.

Chromebook Device Protection Plan
*This is the last week to purchase the Chromebook Device Protection Plan (DPP) for this school year.
Students having issues with their Chromebook need to contact the library. Many issues can be solved through tips and tricks on the Library website. Students are required to have our campus technicians do any and all repairs to their device. The Chromebook Device Protection Plan DPP is a great way to ensure these repairs are covered. This coverage does need to be renewed each school year. DPP must be purchased by Monday, September 9th.

Be Safe on the Roads!
A message from DEHS and Goodyear PD
As we kick off the new school year, we want to remind everyone to practice safe driving habits, especially around our school zones. The Goodyear Police Department is increasing enforcement to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and community. We urge all parents and students to be vigilant, obey traffic laws, and drive responsibly. Let's work together to keep everyone safe!
