Hello HHES Families,

Wow, what a week we've had! Monday was the 100th day of school, we had some snow, and Valentine's celebrations to highlight a few events that occured over our campus this week. Watching the students come to school to celebrate Valentine's Day was a highlight of our week!

We have a three day weekend this week. There is no school on Monday, February 20th in honor of President's Day.

On Thursday, February 23rd we have our 3rd grade concert! We hope you will consider joining us.

Our third grade students are VERY excited to showcase their concert, “Our Earth, Our Home”! They have worked hard at learning a variety of instruments so far this year.

We look forward to seeing you at HHES on February 23, 2023. The performance will begin at 6:30pm. Students will need to arrive by 6:20pm and meet me in the commons area. They are welcome to wear something nice!

• When there is a line of cars waiting to pull into the lanes, you can form two lanes and then merge into one lane. This helps us keep cars from blocking traffic on the main road. (See image below)
• Pull all the way forward to the car in front of you. This helps us get more cars in each of the lanes.
• Do not pull into a lane if it is full. If a car sticks out, it blocks other lanes from being accessed, which causes parent pick up to go longer.
• Stay in the lane you choose. Switching lanes causes a safety issue for students and staff

Dear Hockinson Families,

We know how important it is for children to explore and learn about different careers. While many children grow up learning about amazing jobs like fire fighting or working with animals as a veterinarian, we want to host a job fair to share with students a variety of jobs they may never have thought about or knew existed. This is where we need your help.

We need volunteers to come attend our Job Fair and represent different occupations. If you are able to volunteer your time or know of someone who is passionate about their career and interested in sharing what it’s like to do their job with students, please either reply to this email or forward my contact information to them.

We are planning to host our Job Fair March 13th, from 3:30 – 5:30pm in Hockinson Middle School’s Gym. Volunteers are welcome to stay for the full event or attend for as long as they would like. Each volunteer will be given a table, where they are welcome to bring materials or presentation resources to use.

If your family and children are interested in attending, either as a volunteer or as an attendee, save the date! Our Job Fair will be open to all Hockinson School District Families to attend and learn about different career opportunities.

Hockinson Middle School Band is hosting a fundraiser pancake breakfast at Applebee's on Saturday, March 11, from 8AM - 10AM!

Tickets are $12 per person.

Each breakfast consists of pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, coffee, milk, juice, and soft drinks.

Do you want to help out at our school? Any person who is volunteering, must past a background check and be cleared to volunteer. We have a new way to submit and process volunteer applications.

All students will be proficient in reading by the end of second grade and maintain proficiency until the end of fifth grade, because we believe reading is the key for all students to achieve their dreams.
