St. Cecilia Spotlight - Oct 9

We will be dedicating the new road which connects the ECLC driveway and Locust Lane on Thursday, October 17th after the 8:00 AM Mass. The new road will be open for use on Monday, October 21st.

Beginning Monday, October 14th, St. Cecilia will be having a Socktober event collecting new tube socks for the less fortunate. Each classroom will collect socks through Friday, October 18th.

Once collected, the socks will be taken to local shelters and handed out to those who need them. The classroom that collects the most pairs of socks will win a pizza party for their classroom.

This year we are going with the highly recommended Literati Book Fair. This company offers a variety of quality books at reasonable prices, with few trinkets, so the focus is on reading. Our book fair will be November 18 - 22. An email will go out soon about schedules for volunteers. If you are not contacted and want to help out please contact Ms. Kohl. This year's book fair will offer digital shopping, gift cards and online payments. We are excited about this opportunity.

We really need help in our cafeteria on a daily basis. Great way to earn Parent Partnership hours. Kitchen Help will assist the cafeteria with serving food. Cafe Monitor will assist students with opening items and cleaning tables.

You must be VIRTUS compliant. Parent hours need to be logged in to Sycamore for approval!

St. Cecilia Catholic School in Independence, Kentucky is seeking a part-time custodian to assist with daily cleaning tasks. The duties outlined below are included:

• Cleaning: Cleaning classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, and other areas daily. Perform weekly, monthly, and seasonal cleaning as needed.

• Sanitizing: Disinfect bathrooms, cafeteria, and touch surfaces such as door handles, switch plates, and trash receptacles.

• Trash removal: Empty trash containers and transport materials to disposal areas daily.

• Responding to emergencies as needed: Spills, illness, etc.

• Moving furniture: Moving heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies manually or with hand trucks.

• Setting up for events: Setting up, arranging, or removing decorations, tables, chairs, etc. for meetings and events.

• Maintaining equipment: Maintaining small tools, equipment, cleaning supplies, and work areas.

• Using chemicals: Using appropriate chemicals and cleaners safely and productively.

• Maintaining professional relationships: Maintaining positive, professional relationships with staff, parents, and others.

Fall rehearsals are Mondays, 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm at St. Cecilia. From October 14 - December 16, 2024. Please sign up in the narthex or contact Abigail Haidle for more information.

The St. Cecilia Youth Choir (SCYC) kicked off the 2024-25 season with their first rehearsal on Monday, September 16th. A full rehearsal and performance calendar is available in the FORM linked below.

This Youth Choir is open to ALL 2nd - 8th grade St. Cecilia PARISH CHILDREN. That means YOU - St. Cecilia School Students! (Children younger than 2nd grade may be accepted on a trial basis if they can read, carry a tune, follow instructions, and focus for a fast paced 1 hour rehearsal.)

The yearbooks from last year have arrived and have been distributed. We have a limited amount to sell. If you didn't order one, you still have an opportunity to purchase one while supplies last. Send a check to the school office in an envelope marked "YEARBOOK" and we will send it home with your child.

Thank you again to everyone who donated to our Walkathon last week! We were able to reach our goal of $20,000! THANK YOU ALL! We will be announcing individual grade top earners this week. CONGRATULATIONS to the Kindergarteners, who had the highest level of grade participation and will receive a pizza party (date TBD).

The SCPTO Trunk or Treat is this Saturday, October 12 from 6 - 8 pm in the Undercroft. EVERYONE needs to RSVP for a Trunk, to attend the event, or to do both! We will have snacks, music and Halloween activities.

We will again be selling Texas Roadhouse Gift Cards this year! They make great Christmas gifts! Our sale will begin on Wednesday, October 23 (envelopes and info will be sent home in the red family folders) and will end on Friday, November 8. Gift Cards will be sent home with plenty of time before the holiday break if you'd like to use them for holiday gifts!

Our first Stagette planning meeting will be on Tuesday, October 15 at 6:30pm at LaRosa's in Independence. The Stagette is the PTO's largest event of the year and we need many volunteers to make this a successful event! Everyone is welcome to attend!

Welcome to the adventure! Cub Scout Pack 808 is looking for new Lions, Tigers & Bears (Oh My!). Over the course of the year, we will be hiking, doing archery, snow-tubing, Pinewood Derby and other activities. We will be following the Scout Oath and Law, as we learn to be Trustworthy, Courteous, Reverent, and more. Everyone K-5th is welcome to join us. If your kids are interested or curious, October 15th is the next Den Meeting at 6:30 at Summit View Academy. The offices of Safe Environment and Catholic Schools are working together to offer a presentation featuring Dr. Mandy Sanchez. Dr. Sanchez will be addressing the crisis of pornography in our world and the effects on children and families. This presentation is offered to ALL adults on Wednesday November 6th, 7:00 PM in St. Henry District High School’s Drees Homes Auditorium.
