Infinite Campus Tips (NEW)
HonestGame Eligibility Reports delivered Thursday (NEW)
Honest Game Academic Eligibility Reports were sent to students and families last week on Thursday, October 23. You can look back for an email like the one shown in the image to the right. Honest Game reports identify how a students current academic progress aligns to different standards of collegiate athletic eligibility and the intended audience is students and families of students who anticipate participating in college sports. If you can't find the email you can have your student visit https://honestgame.com/ and sign-in using their CHSD117 Google credential.
In addition to reviewing their CARE (College Academic Report on Eligibility), families interested in college athletics can sign up for the first webinar in a new Honest Game family series covering signing day, verbal commitments, and the academic planning process here.
Halloween Costume Protocols (2nd Week)
Halloween is just around the corner, and we would like to make sure students are being safe and dressing appropriately for the school day. Please refer to the student handbook available on the school's website 24-25 Student Hand book. The expectation is that student costumes adhere to the specific principles of the D117 Dress Code, which is outlined and explained on pages 15-16 in the handbook.
Key points to remember when choosing a Halloween costume:
No masks or facial coverings are allowed.
Additionally, no look-alike weapons, or references to drugs, alcohol, or banned substances are permitted.
Language/verbiage contained in costumes or costumes that are a disruption to the learning environment are not permitted.
Please let your dean know if you have any questions or concerns about the expectations for students on Halloween. We appreciate your support and wish everyone a safe and Happy Halloween.
AP Exam Registration (2nd Week)
Taking Advanced Placement (AP) exams is an important part of all AP courses. Antioch Community High School strongly encourages all students enrolled in an AP course to take the AP exam in May 2025. Scoring well on the AP exam can often earn students college credit, saving a significant amount on tuition. Specific information about AP exam dates, course credit, and placement information for individual colleges and universities can be found at www.collegeboard.org.
AP exam registration is currently taking place through the student AP Classroom online account and will close on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
Registration for AP Exams is not complete until payment is submitted through Infinite Campus or by bringing a check made out to Antioch Community High School to Ms. Catrina Sakalowski in the main office. Fees will appear in Infinite Campus under the optional fees after October 16 and can be paid through November 6. Exams not paid for by November 6 will be canceled.
Information regarding registration and payment:
Students are automatically registered for their AP Exams once they've joined their AP Classroom. If a student does not wish to take an AP exam, they must notify their teacher so we can remove the student from the exam roster.
Students and families requesting financial assistance should contact Dr. Jaclyn Orlov, jaclyn.orlov@chsd117.org.
Students and families are responsible for any extra costs above and beyond the initial testing fee including late fees, cancellation fees, and "no-show" fees.
Late registrations between November 6 and March 7 must be made in person with Dr. Orlov in the main office. College Board imposes a $40 late fee during this window of time.
If your student is ill on exam day, a doctor's note must be provided to Dr. Orlov within 24 hours of the testing time in order to be eligible for an alternate test, AND the guardian should speak with the attendance secretary indicating that the student will not be in attendance that day.
There will be a $40 fee from College Board for any exam that was ordered but not taken by a student.
Lake County Trade Fair Field Trip (NEW)
Last week's Lake County Trades Fair was a huge success! ACHS took 19 Juniors and Seniors and many of our students went with their Tech Campus class. In total, over 800 students attended representing almost all of Lake County high schools. Looks like a great opportunity for students to look at what comes next.
