As we begin a new year and hopefully put COVID 19 behind us, I wanted to start a new tradition at MCS. Each month I plan to share information, initiatives, and events that highlight and strengthen our district. As many of you know, COVID has brought challenging circumstances that have stressed us emotionally and financially. In order to overcome these stressors we need to be top notch communicators and collaborators. The purpose of this newsletter series will be one way to communicate and share information that will allow us to collaborate and make MCS the best district it can be! I hope you find this information useful as we move forward in 2021.

Since we have returned to in-person school, we are eligible for staff vaccines which will roll out February 1st. Below are some FAQ's.

Q. When can we expect the vaccine to be administered?

A. All we know is February 1st it is available but no idea what that supply will be

Q. Will vaccine administration be organized by the school district?

A. We don't think so, but we asked and offered to assist

Q. If yes, will the district be sending people out to the buildings, like with the flu shots?

A. No answer yet

Q. Do we know which of the two vaccines we are receiving?

A. No information has been received at this point

Q. Is there a cost to members associated with the vaccine?

A. No cost

Q. Is there an employment consequence for individuals who choose not to get the vaccine? A. No

Updates on shipments and inventory

• 1500 chromebooks from MCESC (Elementaries should see new carts by the end of this week and HS and MS should be in next week)
• New Access Points from Broadband grant
• Bus Wifi (coming soon!)
• One-to-One at High School planning is in the works

The school board held its annual organizational meeting on Tuesday, January 12th.

The board set meeting dates: third Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. expect in June, it will be the fourth Thursday due to end of school year financials and adopted legal council as follows:The Board decided to do the following beginning February 1, 2021:Ennis Britton Co., L.P.A. - Human Resources and Negotiations, Scott, Scriven, LLP - Special Education, Current HR issues, Workers Compensation, and Board of Revision, and Bricker & Eckler for Bonds and Levies.

Ann Niess was elected as our new board president for the 2021 Calendar Year. Ann has been on the board for three years. Prior to this appointment, Ann served as our vice president. Ann's husband, Don, her daugher, Annie and Annie's friend Chase were present for the swearing in by Mayor Collins.

Mr. Chris Amsler was elected as our new vice president of the board for the 2021 calendar year. Chris has been on the board for seven years. Prior to this appointment, Chris served as president in 2018 and Vice President in 2017. Chris' wife Michelle and his daughter Leah, were present for the swearing in by Mayor Collins.
