Empathy and Engagement
Resolutions
Every year, we talk about resolutions. With each other. With our students. And then, in many instances, we fail. In 2025, I'm trying to rethink/manage my own expectations- a resolution can be as simple as commiting to self- care once a week (we all have incredibly stressful jobs). My resolution is to use AI as a tool for productivity and task management- something that helps at work, but will also help manage my stress. Read the article below for practical ideas and action plans. And Happy New Year!
PPO
The PPO will take place on Wednesday, January 15th. This is the first of my two yearly observations. The superintendent will visit and rate instruction, attendance, student/community engagement and culture. This should feel like a normal day, however, please make sure you have your rooms organized and lesson plans available should Ketler choose to visit you.
Paraprofessional Meetings
We will host meetings for all paraprofessionals (at the Ellery site) next week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 8:20 to 8:35 in room 122. Plan to attend based upon your last name.

- Please email 373kabsences@NYCDOE.onmicrosoft.com if you will be out for the day- this is a one-stop shop that notifies all admin, coordinators who complete scheduling, and Richard.
- Self-treated absences before or after a holiday break are considered an non-approved extension of vacation and are subject to disciplinary action.
- If you are planning to leave the building with students to go on a community walk or visit, you MUST submit an out of building log (located in the main office of all sites- turn in to the UC)- we need to know where our students are at all times.
- The second round of observations will begin the week of January 6th.
- Complete all IEPS in a timely manner and make sure to notify all RSPs regarding submitting their goals.
