Tiger Choir Chronicles

It has been another great week in the Tiger Choir Room! As always, each week I'll be sending out our weekly newsletter, the Tiger Choir Chronicles, sometime between Sunday and Monday. It will also be posted on the choir website under "Weekly Updates." Please be sure to read the full news update each week for reminders, upcoming events, and news. There is a lot of information in this week's newsletter so please be sure to read through everything that applies to your student.

Thank you to everyone who has paid choir fees! If you have not yet, please remember that they were due by THIS Friday, September 20th. If your child needs assistance, our Booster Club is here to help! Please simply send me an email and let me know that your child needs assistance paying choir fees and our Boosters will be happy to help out if they are able!

Our annual Fall Concert is coming soon on October 8th. The concert will feature the Varsity Tenor-Bass Choir from Bowie Middle School in addition to our four performing Tiger Choirs. Students will wear their formal uniform for this concert which require a deposit on their choir fee as well as a few items they need to supply. As explained in the choir uniform policy, ALL students will need to supply a pair of BLACK, DRESS shoes. Solid black sneakers, boots, etc. are NOT considered dress shoes. For ladies, a simple pair of flats works perfect with our choir dress.

In addition to shoes, any student wearing a tuxedo will also need to provide a plain, full collar, white dress shirt. Please see the graphic below to confirm that your collar style is correct:

More details regarding the Fall Concert:

Location: Travis High School Auditorium. Entrance doors for choir concerts are the cafeteria doors on the backside of the campus.

Student Call Time: 6:15 pm

Concert Start Time: 7:00 pm

All concerts are double major grades and student attendance is expected. Excused absences are only given for school events with communication AHEAD of time.

All students should now have been fitted in either a tuxedo or a dress. Uniforms are currently have alterations done, and those students who have paid either half or all of their choir fee should be bringing them home soon. Please note that these are the uniforms for all of our formal concerts including the upcoming Fall Concert. Please let me know if your family's situation prevent the choir fee from being paid.

Our Choir Parent Booster Club operates to help support and assist the choir program in many ways! We have regular meetings to help plan events, discuss volunteer needs, and discuss financial needs of the choir program. You can be as involved as you would like to be! To encourage membership, the board has waived all membership fees this year in hopes that you will join us and find out ways you can support your child in their musical journey as a member of the Travis Tiger Choir!

Chorale continues to work hard and make great progress! A few notes for the week:

• Thank you for all of your work and diligence performing at football games! All performances have sounded FABULOUS!
• This week we are performing on the Bowie Middle School Fall Concert. Concert is Thursday, October 3rd at 6:00 pm. Call time is 5:15 pm, and we will sing first on the concert. Uniform is gray choir polo with jeans.

This year we are thrilled to add another private voice teacher to our staff and extend a warm welcome to Mr. Antoine Griggs. Mr. Griggs is an accomplished performer who regularly sings with various organizations in Houston, including the Houston Ebony Opera Guild and Houston Grand Opera! He came to campus a couple weeks ago to meet the students and began lessons last week. He still has a few spots open. If your child is interested, or if you have any specific questions please feel free to reach out to him at antoinegriggs@gmail.com. We are very fortunate in Fort Bend that lessons are taught during student's choir class time so no additional rehearsal time is necessary and I hope that many students will take advantage of this awesome opportunity!
