BHS Summer School
Welcome to Summer School 2024! Please read the following important information:
Dates of classes: May 28 to June 7 with make-up days of June 10 & 11.
Hours: 7:55-3:00. Doors to the building will open at 7:30 a.m.
All students will enter & exit through the Main Front Entrance doors.
Breakfast & Lunch provided: We will be providing breakfast & lunch, free of charge, to students attending summer school. Meals will be served in the Commons. Breakfast will be served at 7:30; lunch will be served at 11:45.
Attendance: Summer school classes are concentrated and cover information quickly. Vacations and appointments should not be scheduled during class time. Due to state regulations, a student is required to attend 9 days (60 hours) of summer school in order to earn credit. Two make-up days (June 10 & 11) are scheduled at the end of summer school, but students that have attended all 60 hours (9 days) do not have to attend the make-up days.
Excessive tardiness will count as an absence. Time missed must be made up in order to receive credit.
Transportation: There is no bus transportation for summer school. It is the student’s responsibility to arrange transportation. Please make sure students are picked up promptly at the end of the class session. Rides should be waiting by 3:00. There should be no students in the building after 3:10.
IEP services, including accommodations, will not be provided to special education students during summer school. This includes, but is not limited to, having tests/assignments modified or read to the student or providing small group/individual assistance.
Behavior: Students are expected to act in an appropriate, acceptable manner while in summer school. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. The first time a student is sent to the office for a minor offense, a phone call or email will be made to a parent. The second minor offense, he/she will be sent home for the remainder of the day and will be required to make up the missed hours. The third minor offense, the student will be dismissed from summer school. A major student misconduct will result in the student being dismissed from summer school immediately.
Students will be given water/restroom breaks each hour. Students are not to be out of the classroom at any other time.
