Quarter 3
Message from Miss Miller
Welcome to 2025 and the start of Quarter 3! I hope everyone had a safe, joyful, and restful break. Northfield students have been superstars in art class, and I’m so proud of their creativity and hard work. I encourage parents to continue supporting their children’s artistic growth by inspiring them to stay creative at home! For our younger students, don’t forget to keep practicing those important fine motor skills. All students- keep exploring, experimenting, and developing your art skills—you’re all amazing! Wishing everyone a Happy New Year filled with creativity and inspiration! :)
Best,
Miss Danielle Miller

What's new in art??
Kindergarten
Kindergarten students have been building on foundational skills like line, color, and shape, while also exploring new concepts such as pattern and texture. In the second quarter, they created a variety of exciting projects, including Veteran’s Day Poppies, Winter Wonderland Snowmen, Funny Face Buildings, and Printed Evergreen Branches! I encourage parents to support their child by practicing fine motor skills at home, such as cutting, gluing, and coloring with care. :)
1st Grade
First grade artists had a fun and creative quarter! They kicked things off by finishing their Veteran's Day hearts inspired the artist Romero Britto. Next, students embraced their inner royalty by creating "Royal Self-Portraits" as their very first self-portrait of the year. To wrap up the quarter, they explored symmetry by designing dragons in celebration of the upcoming Chinese New Year on January 29th!
2nd Grade
Last quarter, second graders finished their Sugar Skulls, Chalk Pastel Flower Arrangement, and Self-Portraits inside a Clay Picture Frame! So cool!! This quarter we will begin by learning about the Northern Lights and landscape artwork. Keep being creative!
