Kellogg Marsh Jan/Feb Newsletter
Hello KM Bear Families,
It's incredible how fast time flies when working hard, promoting kindness, and having fun. As we march into the second half of the school year, our focus remains unwavering on providing conscientious and engaging instruction for our students. The foundation of knowledge and skills built in the first 100 days will be essential as we gear up for Spring learning and SBA testing. As we continue our new attendance initiative, we cannot emphasize the importance of consistent attendance.
Attendance is a concern. 20% of our school is chronically absent (missed 10% or more of the school year). On average, 46 or more students in K-5 miss school each day. Attendance matters. Regular school attendance is directly linked to academic success. Attending school daily ensures your child doesn't miss vital instruction, practice, and peer collaboration. It sets the stage for a strong educational foundation and promotes a positive attitude towards learning. We understand that there may be times when your child cannot attend school due to illness or other circumstances. In those cases, please notify the office as soon as possible so we can work with you to minimize any impact on your child's learning.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education. We look forward to seeing our students thrive in the second half of the school year. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us. Here's to the next 100 days of learning and growth!
PTA Reflections Program
National PTA has a long-standing commitment to arts education. The Reflections program provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life.
Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.
Students in pre-K through grade 12 created original works of art in response to a theme. The theme for this year's program was "I am Hopeful Because..." In STEAM class, Mrs. Mooring gave all the students the opportunity to complete a Visual Art piece. We had six students that submitted their Visual Art pieces to move on to Marysville Council Reflections. Here are the following winners:
Primary Winners - 1st Amelia D., 2nd Jessica M., & 3rd Oakley F.
Intermediate Winners - 1st Belle S., 2nd Ximena T, & 3rd Evelyn J.
The following three students Oakley F- first place, Jessica M. - second place, and Ameila M. - third place made it to state and were recognized for their visual artwork in the primary division.
Congratulations to all of Kellogg Marsh winners. A big thank you goes out to our PTA and Mrs. Mooring for making this a success opportunity for our students at Kellogg Marsh!

This night included a homemade breakfast dinner that included pancakes and oatmeal. Yummy! The families also made dream catchers and heard a story in their native language.
Drumming
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
We celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a special student assembly. Each grade level shared great activities such as reading a poem, shared important facts, sang songs and create art work about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We also have been celebrating Black History Month in our classrooms. Throughout the year, we will strive to discover new ways to understand and appreciate the diverse cultures and identities of our students.
100th Day of School
The 100th day of school is a significant milestone for students and teachers alike. It's a great opportunity to celebrate the progress made by students in their learning journey so far. Many schools mark the occasion by organizing fun and engaging activities that help students understand the concept of counting to 100. Some popular activities include creating art projects with 100 pieces, writing about what they would do with $100, building structures with 100 blocks, and even dressing up as 100-year-old people. These activities not only help students develop their math and writing skills but also encourage creativity and teamwork. Overall, the 100th day of school is a fun and meaningful way to celebrate the hard work and achievements of our students.
