Schools across the Centennial School District celebrated our veterans:
Flags of thanks
Centerville Elementary students created flags of thanks for our veterans and posted them outside the school, along Main Street. Pictured, Ms. Bealka's Preschool class with their flags they created.

Students at Rice Lake Elementary honored veterans with a flag parade at their school.
School-wide assembly
Students at Blue Heron Elementary participated in a school-wide assembly to honor veterans.

Professor Penelope visits Centennial Middle School
Professor Penelope visited the 602 science classroom at Centennial Middle School to introduce upcoming science concepts through hands-on experiments. Students learned about thermal energy through chemical reactions and floating ghosts. Students also learned the secrets and chemistry behind dry ice and had the opportunity to hold Boo bubbles.

Honor Band festival participants
Congratulations to 8th grade students Eli Hals (Bassoon) and Matthew Beck (Tuba) on participating in the Minnesota Junior Winds Honor Band Festival on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Edina High School.

We can't wait to welcome kindergarten families to Centennial Schools. We're gearing up for the Class of 2038!
Learning opportunity
Staff at Centennial High School participated in an indigenous craft, making jingle dress key chains, at a professional development meeting. The activity was led by Indian Education Coordinator Stephanie Spencer.
Tot skate and silver skaters
Grab your skates and join us every Monday and Wednesday, 10:30 a.m.-noon, in the Centennial Ice Arena, for ice skating fun.
Dates: Now through Dec. 18, resuming Jan. 6-March 31. No skating on days when schools are closed.
Cost (pay at the door): Tots, ages 2-5 with adult, $5 per adult/child pair; Seniors (55+), $5

Emergency and Weather-Related School Closings
An announcement of a school closing, or a delayed start is usually posted by 6:00 a.m. The community is notified via:
- Twin Cities television stations.
- Information posted on the district website - www.isd12.org.
- By calling the District Office at 763-792-6000 and the main office of your student's school.
An "alert notification" will be sent to families by telephone and/or text through the District's SchoolMessenger communication system. A message will be sent to your home phone, cell phone, work phone, by text--see info below to sign up!
Do you want to receive school closing, bus delays, and emergency information by text?
If so, you must opt in ANNUALLY to receive messages. Text "Y" or "YES" to 67587. You may opt out of these messages at any time by responding to one of our messages with "STOP."

Make a difference and be a substitute in our schools!
Don’t miss this chance to get involved and make a difference in the Centennial School District! No experience necessary; training provided! Apply at Teachers on Call, or by phone, 800-713-4439. Substitutes are also needed for Kids Club, food service, custodial, administrative assistants, and nurses. More information can be found on the Centennial website.

Winter Activity Guide opens December 4!
The Winter Activity Guide opens for registration on Wednesday, December 4 at 8 am. Look for all offerings for both youth and adults for winter through early spring including new swimming lessons, gymnastics and more!
