News from Brookwood
Rescheduled Lunch on the Lawn Family Picnics
Due to the forecasts of inclement weather at the end of this week, Brookwood Elementary rescheduled Lunch on the Lawn Fall Family Picnics for Wednesday, September 25th (2nd & 3rd Grade) and Thursday, September 26th (K & 5th Grade). 1st and 4th Grades Lunch on the Lawn Picnics were able to proceed as scheduled on Tuesday, September 24th. The new tentative dates for Kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade levels will be:
- Tuesday, October 1 - 2nd & 3rd Grade
- Wednesday, October 2 - K & 5th Grade
Bring your family, lunch, and a blanket to enjoy a picnic with your child outdoors on the grounds of Brookwood Elementary during your child's regularly scheduled lunch time. The Brookwood Colt Cafe' will be serving a special picnic menu for students who wish to purchase.
We apologize for any inconvenience. We look forward to seeing you on our rescheduled picnic dates.

Where: Five Forks Public Library
When: Thursday, October 3rd at 6:00 PM for 1 hour
How: Drop by the Media Center, pick up a permission slip, and return it completed. Meet Mrs. Reynolds & Mrs. Boyce at the GCPL by 5:45 PM.
Important Note: Due to limited space, only students may be invited into the room for the event.

Join the MinecraftEDU Club: Building Skills and Having Fun
The Brookwood Elementary MinecraftEDU Club is now accepting interest for the 2024-2025 school year. The club is open to 3rd - 5th grade students of all Minecraft experience levels. MinecraftEDU Club will meet every Wednesday morning from 7:45 - 8:20 am.
During our weekly club meetings, students will engage in fun and creative builds. Club members will also build communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity skills. Students will be required to use their school-issued Chromebook and their Minecraft: Education Edition account on the GCPS server. Don’t worry! We will set up all this during our first club meeting.
Space is limited to 20 students! Students who wish to participate must have a parent or guardian complete the MinecraftEDU Club interest form by Wednesday, October 9th. Parents will receive a confirmation through ParentSquare of club acceptance and start date.
Calling All Young Artists: The Reflections Competition is Back!
Get ready to explore your creativity! Brookwood Elementary's Reflections competition is now open to all students.
This year's theme is Accepting Imperfection. We encourage students to express themselves through visual arts, photography, literature, music composition, dance choreography, or film production.
The deadline has been extended to Tuesday, October 15th.

Calling all Dads and Other Caring Adults! You are invited to October's All Pro Dads Breakfast!
Please join ALL Pro Dads for their October Breakfast on Friday, October 18th from 7:30 - 8:05 am in the Brookwood Elementary Cafeteria.
A breakfast of Chick-fil-a chicken biscuits, coffee, and water will be served. Parking is available at the 1123 Grace House. A donation of $5 per family is requested.

Outdoor Movie Night at the Grove at Towne Center
Get ready for a fun-filled summer night under the stars! The City of Snellville is hosting a series of Fourth Friday Outdoor Movie Nights at The Grove at Towne Center.
The first movie in the series, "Kung Fu Panda 4," will be shown this Friday, August 23rd, at 6 p.m. Movies will start at dusk.
Other upcoming movies include "Elemental" on September 27th and "Hocus Pocus" on October 25th.
Enjoy a free movie, delicious food from local food trucks, refreshing King of Pops, and the exciting Splash Pad before the show. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and get ready for a memorable evening with family and friends.
