Saint Bridget School: a Catholic community that encourages a love of God, respect for all, and academic excellence.
Principal's Notes
Yesterday was the Feast of St. Brigid which honored one of Ireland’s most beloved saints, known for her deep faith, generosity, and commitment to education. As a Catholic elementary school, we look to our namesake as a model of compassion, leadership, and service to others—values we strive to instill in our students. Her dedication to learning and care for the poor remind us of our mission to nurture both the mind and the heart. Celebrating her feast day allows us to reflect on the importance of faith in action and inspires our school community to follow her example of love and kindness.
Additionally, our second graders experienced the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time yesterday, a beautiful milestone in their faith journey. With hearts open to God’s mercy, they took this important step in growing closer to Christ. Through prayer, reflection, and guidance from their teachers and families, they came to understand the significance of forgiveness and God’s unconditional love. Seeing their joy and peace after receiving the sacrament was truly inspiring. As a Catholic school community, we are blessed to walk with them on this journey of faith, helping them grow in grace and understanding of God’s love.
Catholic Schools Week: Thank you to everyone who had a role in making our Catholic Schools Week a busy and fun week!
PTO Meeting: Tomorrow night there will be a PTO Meeting held in the school cafeteria at 6:30 pm. We are hosting it on zoom also, see link below, to provide an alternative to in-person attendance due to the increase of illnesses we have seen in the past week.
All my best,

Faith Formation - Weekly Aspirations
Put in the Effort
Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord not the human masters.”
As we do our schoolwork, we should do it with all our heart, as if we are working for God. When we do our best in school, we are honoring God with our efforts and talents.

Parking Lot Safety - Reminders
To keep our school community safe, we’d like to remind everyone about our parking lot guidelines. Here’s how we can all do our part:
PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY
ROLLING DROP OFF (K-8 students)
PARKING
- Please make sure to walk your child safely across the driving lane to the school. (Pre-S and Pre-K students are to be escorted to the side door for drop off).
- Whenever possible, pull all the way through to the second row of parking spots. This helps keep the flow smooth and prevents cars from backing up as our wonderful kiddos make their way to school.
FIRE LANE SAFETY
- There is absolutely no dropping off along the basketball court. This area is a fire lane and is designated solely for a walkway.
Thanks for teaming up with us to keep everyone safe and sound! We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to an awesome second half of the year. 🌟
Teacher Spotlight - Ms. Cotter - Grade 6 Science
This week in 6th grade science the students are learning about different forces in the Earth’s crust. Miss Cotter taught the students about three different types of forces: tension, compression, and shearing. Then, Miss Cotter gave the students an opportunity to model each type of force using a Milky Way candy bar. For tension, the students pulled the Milky Way apart and shared observations. For shearing, the students were instructed to move the pieces of the Milky way back and forth and report their observations. Finally, the students modeled compression and demonstrated with the Milky Way bar what happens when two plates come together. Miss Cotter uses models in science because models help the students represent concepts that are difficult to see.
Miss Cotter’s favorites: holiday: Thanksgiving; Coffee/ tea order: D&D hot or cold; flower: poinsettia; cookie: Crumble’s “Cosmos brownie” thanks Gabe T; place to shop: Home Goods; season: all of them!

School Closure/delay due to Weather Conditions - Preparing for Winter Season
Please review the snow-day/inclement weather school cancelation process.
If Abington Public School is noted as closed/delayed on public television - Saint Bridget School will also be closed/delayed. A text/voice message will be sent out from our student information system to announce closure/delay.
Saint Bridget School may opt to close/delay even when the Town of Abington does not. It is important to think of Saint Bridget School as a “regional school” covering 23 communities. Street conditions in regional towns, and area school district closures may not mirror the conditions or actions taken by Abington. In that case, SBS may opt to close/delay school. A text/voice message will be sent out from our student information system to announce closure/delay.
In the case of a school delay, there will be no before-school program and no school for Preschool and Pre-K ½ day students.
Saint Bridget School may close early if the weather worsens dramatically during a daytime storm, in this case, the After School program would be canceled. A text/voice message will be sent out from our student information system to announce an early closure.
