Hello North State Partners,

We're excited to share some significant program updates with all of you. We are thrilled to announce that we recently wrapped up our Accreditation Visit, a big step in our ongoing seven-year accreditation cycle. This process was an opportunity for us to showcase the array of educational services Tehama County of Education offers. It brings us immense pride to inform you that the team has endorsed our Teacher Induction and Designated Subjects: Career Technical Education Programs for FULL ACCREDITATION without any stipulations.

Another highlight was our active participation in the Far North CTE Summit, a two-day event orchestrated in partnership with Paxton Paterson Labs. The summit had a substantial turnout, drawing middle and high school counselors, teachers, CTE leads, and agency guests from several counties. Although we are not sponsored by Paxton Paterson Labs, their educational kits have proven to be an invaluable resource in making learning engaging and feasible, particularly in rural settings with limited resources. In March, we were able to travel to Sutter County to learn more about the Northern California Aerospace Initiative (NCAI). Since its inception in 2014, NCAI mission has been, ”to develop, sustain, and promote the aeronautical career pathways in the Northern California Region.” We met with Rikki Shaffer, the Executive Director of NCAI, who provided us with an overview of their collaboration with Marysville CORE Charter, the AeroStem Academy, and Tango Flight. Particularly noteworthy was our visit to CORE where Lead Teacher, Dave McCreary, and his students showcased their Commercial Drone Applications Program, which aligns perfectly with the evolving demands of the labor market. Our tour also included a fascinating visit to the Aerospace Academy, where Executive Director Joe Clark demonstrated the mobile flight simulator, a tool helping students ace their FAA Private Pilot Knowledge Exam. The culminating activity was our walkthrough of the airplane construction project, yes they are building an airplane! In fact, this is the third airplane constructed by local high school students under the guidance of Lead Teacher Dave Lane, with plans, materials, and support courtesy of Tango Flight.

We are dedicated to developing K-12 CTE teachers who can provide our students with high-quality CTE content, leading to careers in high-skill, high-wage fields in the northstate.
