Parking concerns during student pickup and drop-off.
Upper Campus families,
We need your cooperation to prevent student pickup and drop-off from disrupting our surrounding neighborhood, especially on Sunset Drive.
Recently, there have been serious safety concerns, including blocked roads, near-collisions, and even a school bus being forced to reverse due to parked cars obstructing traffic.
To maintain a safe and respectful flow of traffic, we ask that all parents:
- Use the designated carpool line instead of parking on neighborhood streets.
- If you must park on neighborhood streets, do not park on both sides of the street and follow all posted signage.
- Refrain from using Mary Scott Park as a turn-a-round.
Although GLOBE owns one home on Sunset Drive, we do not have the authority to encourage or permit parents to use it for parking. While the decision to park there ultimately rests with parents, doing so impacts our relationship with the community.
Previously, we posted signs suggesting parking on one side of the street but removed them to avoid implying that we support or allow parking in the area.
Our communication with neighborhood residents has been clear: we do not encourage or permit parking on neighborhood streets. Residents have been informed that they may contact us or local law enforcement with any safety concerns.
We have made efforts to find a balanced solution. Previous communication has been shared in person by GLOBE administration, our weekly newsletters and via REMIND. Without collective cooperation and respect for the neighborhood, this issue continues to negatively affect everyone involved.
Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping our community safe and considerate.
In community,
Jen Parker
Director of Operations
