St Joseph's Catholic Primary School
Newsletter 15.11.24
This week...
The highlight for me this week was definitely watching our youngest children (from preschool to Year 2) enjoying a Forest School day on Tuesday!
Not many primary school children are given the opportunity to develop such important life skills, and we are delighted to be able to offer this for our little people.
Not only did our youngest classes experience their first Forest School, but our KS2 children continued their regular sessions on Wednesday too.
The resilience and perseverance built during these sessions will no doubt serve our children well.
Thank you, as always, for supporting us to
Live, love and learn with the Lord.
Mrs Ronicle
Feel free to follow our social media accounts. Our Twitter has the most photos/videos, but we also have a more limited Facebook account too, designed for those who don't use Twitter!
Family support - thank you!
Over the past couple of weeks, we've made some temporary changes to our staffing. Our decisions, as always, are based on supporting the needs of our children and ensuring we provide the very best care and education possible for our lovely little people.
We, as a staff team, go above and beyond for the children at all times, and are very grateful for the recognition and support we are seeing from families! Your kind words and messages of support mean such a lot to us!
Virtue
Our virtue this week is: Prayer
Have a look at our Prayer Guide for Families on our website, to help you understand the prayers we use in school so you can share these at home with your children too!

Forest Schools!
As you know, our KS2 children now enjoy Forest School regularly, but this week, we gave our EYFS and KS1 children a chance to have their own outdoor learning sessions too!
We were impressed at how quickly our youngest children picked up key Forest School skills - Anthony in Reception even managed to create fire! The children showed maturity and resilience, and thoroughly loved their session!
Message from School Council
Our School Council met this week and discussed some fabulous ways in which they would like to improve our school and support our local community. They have the following message for you:
We are collecting any 'nearly new' toys and presents from now until the end of November. These will be donated to charities who support families who may not be able to afford Christmas presents this year. Please sort through your toys before Christmas and please give what you can.
There will be a collection box in St Patrick, please give any donation to your school council representatives. Thank you.
Christmas Dates
We are just finalising our exciting Advent plans across school! Please see below for some of our upcoming Christmas dates!
Tad10 Fundraising Run
This Sunday (17th November), Mrs Ronicle and Laura Cooper are running the Tad10!
It's a 10 mile route, that passes our lovely school.
Cake and refreshments will be served outside school, and we hope you will come to cheer us on!
Any donations, however small, will be gratefully received. Funds raised will be split between our Friends of St Joseph's and St Leonard's Hospice.
The hospice holds a special place for us, as two of our families lost their dads last year, and the hospice provided such love and care in a difficult time.
Please have a look at our fundraising page and feel free to make a little donation if you are able.
More importantly, PLEASE come to cheer us on outside school during the run - we'll likely be in need of your support and smiley faces!

Attendance Update
Whole School Attendance this week: 94.75%
This week, our attendance is below National Average.
As you know, we love having our children in school and really hope you can support us in getting them to attend as often as possible.
This week, we have been learning...
St Francis Class (Preschool / Reception)
EYFS have been enjoying exploring the composition of number; this week we have been focusing on constructing four and five.
We have also been talking about Remembrance Day traditions and how we are part of our community.
Our Book of the week is Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers and we have loved learning about cold and icy habitats and writing some of our own penguin stories too!
We really recommend this book to everyone.
St Bernadette Class (Year 1/2)
In Computing, St Bernadette's are learning how to make digital art! We have been able to make our own abstract art work and save this on a computer. Look at how fantastic it is!
St Patrick Class (Year 3/4)
In English and History we have been exploring the Stone Age. We thought about different jobs people would have had in a stone age camp. We created still scenes of a Stone Age camp. Can you identify what different jobs people are undertaking here?
St Therese Class (Year 5/6)
As part of our PE learning in St Therese, we have been exploring different jumps. After learning and practising these, we choreographed our own routines with a range of jumps!
