I hope your day is going well. Our Fun Fair is quickly approaching. We are in desperate need of volunteers. We always have great participation at our PTO Graham sponsored events. You always pitch in and help while at the event and I greatly appreciate that. However, I need you to agree to help prior to the event. Your commitment to assist allows the PTO planning committee to properly prepare, ensuring an exciting experience for our families. You can find out how to sign up in the body of this newsletter. The Fun Fair is May 18th, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.
Arrival and Dismissal
When entering campus by motorized vehicle we need to be mindful there are only 2 lanes. To help traffic move smoothly we have one lane to enter campus and one lane to exit campus. If you want to enter the parking lot you must wait in line until you get to the parking lot driveway. This will ensure traffic continues to flow smoothly and most of all minimize accidents. This is in place for your safety and the safety of our Graham community.
During morning drop-offs, if you feel you want to get out of your vehicle to assist your student, we need you to pull to the end of the street. This will allow you to take your time and avoid traffic backing up.
Graham Entry Protocols
As we evolve in making Graham safe. We have decided to enhance our building entry protocols. Here are the steps:
1. When approaching the building push the button on the right-hand brick wall to alert security and the office you are here.
2. From the speaker you will be asked the nature of your visit.
3. If you have an appointment you will be buzzed in. You will enter the building and go through the weapons protector.
4. Security will ask for your license to run through our Raptor system to provide you with a personal visitor pass.
5. Whoever schedules the appointment will be at the door to escort the visitor to the meeting place.
6. To give our full attention to the learning environment we are requiring that all visitors have an appointment to see school personnel.

NWEA MAP Growth Assessment
May 3, 2024
Dear Parent, Guardian, or Caregiver,
As part of our ongoing commitment to assessing student progress, Avondale Schools will soon administer our spring benchmark assessments. Between May 6th and May 24th, students from kindergarten through 11th grade will participate in the NWEA MAP Growth assessment, covering both math and reading.
The NWEA MAP assessment provides important information about student learning, offering insights into each student's academic journey throughout the school year. This data plays a pivotal role in identifying students who may benefit from additional support, as well as those who may excel and warrant consideration for advanced learning opportunities. Our dedicated staff utilize these assessment results to address individual strengths and areas needing improvement. By analyzing the data, we can ensure that students are progressing adequately and pinpoint specific areas for further development.
More information on NWEA assessments:
Students in grades K through 10 will complete NWEA reading, while students from kindergarten to Algebra 2 will take the NWEA math assessment.
The NWEA MAP Growth assessment serves as a reliable measure of achievement and growth in reading and math, providing educators with precise insights to tailor instruction effectively.
This assessment operates on a computer-adaptive platform, adjusting question difficulty and complexity of the questions based on how your student responds. It challenges students appropriately, ensuring that each question aligns with their current skill level.
As a result, students may encounter different sets of questions, tailored to their abilities. It's imperative that students put forth their best effort to ensure the accuracy of their results.
We value your partnership in encouraging your child's participation and effort during these assessments. Together, we can ensure that each student receives the support and guidance they need to thrive academically.

Leadership Team!
The Leadership Team created a Motivation Wall in the main hallway covered in inspirational sticky notes.
If any students are having a tough day, while they are free to stop, read the sticky notes and take one that makes them smile and feel better. Students are encouraged to put their inspirational post-it on their desk, water bottle, coat cubby…wherever they can read it!
