A message from the Superintendent
Weekly Communication

April 18, 2024
Greetings PV Families,
As we continue to welcome the warmth of spring weather, it's also a time of heightened activity here at PVSD. With end-of-year assessments, extracurricular events, and planning for the next academic year, it's safe to say that our school community is bustling with energy and excitement.
Amidst this busy time, it's essential to prioritize not just academic success but also the well-being of our students and families. That's why I'm excited to announce that May is Mental Health Awareness and Physical Fitness & Sports Month! PVSD is thrilled to celebrate health and wellness within our community, alongside our families and students. To kickstart our initiatives, we will be launching a Green Light Campaign, symbolizing our commitment to lighting the way for health and wellness. We invite you to join us in wearing green on May 1st to show support for mental health awareness. Throughout May, we will engage in a calendar wellness challenge designed to promote both physical and mental well-being.
For more details on how you and your family can participate, please click here!
Thank you for your continued support as we strive to foster a culture of holistic wellness within PVSD.
Sincerely,
Barbara A. Russell, Ed.D.

Superintendent's Community Engagement Forum
Mark you calendar! Due to scheduling conflicts, the Superintendent's Community Engagement Forum scheduled for Wednesday, April 24 has been moved to Tuesday May 14, 6:30pm – 8:30pm. The meeting will be held at the District Office (3 Iron Bridge Drive).
PV on Broadway!
Perkiomen Valley High School students have once again been chosen to perform in the Broadway Celebrates Earth Day concert in Times Square, which will be held this Saturday, April 20! Students were selected after submitting a performance video and explaining how our theatre program is working to be more sustainable. They were chosen among many different school/community groups from Philadelphia through Connecticut, and we are so excited that they get to showcase their talents in the heart of New York City.
The concert, a collaboration between the Broadway Green Alliance and the Times Square Alliance in connection with Earth Day and Car Free NYC, begins at 11am and will be livestreamed (www.starsinthehouse.com). View the Playbill article for more information.
PSSA State Testing
Students in grades three, four, and five in our elementary schools and six, seven, and eight in our middle schools will be participating in the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) beginning Monday, April 22 and extending into the month of May. The PSSA is made up of three separate tests which assess to what degree our students have become proficient in English Language Arts (reading and writing), Mathematics, and Science. Principals will provide further details as we approach the testing dates.
For additional information regarding this year’s PSSA assessment, please review the following: PSSA Parent FAQs.
