A message from the principal...
Hello Marblehead Families,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We are getting ready to splash into a super year. School begins on Tuesday, August 20th. There is a modified schedule, so look below for the start and end times of each grade level.
This school year, we are going to focus on "Aloha Spirit." Aloha means so much more than hello and goodbye, it embodies the feelings of love, happiness, friendship, kindness, patience, and endurance. For those of you who have been at Marblehead for many years, I believe you would agree that Marblehead is a place where the Aloha Spirit lives each and every day. It is my goal that each child loves to come to school, feels the love when they are at school, and has Aloha in their heart.
Please read this newsletter all the way to the end. It is so important that you always know what is going on at your child's school.
Have a Fintastic Day!
Mrs. Goodwyn

There will be other new faces around the school, so make sure you say hi to all of our new Ohana.
Class Assignments
*Please note, classes are not finalized until the 10th day of school. If enrollment changes, then the grade level assignments may change.
This information is important also:
At approximately 3:00 pm, Monday August 19th, all elementary sites will have a personalized email message sent by the District Office to all families notifying them of the following:
Site’s Name
Child’s Teacher
Grade Level
**Please note that all class assignments are tentative until after the 10th day of school. Classes can be over or under-enrollment at the beginning of the year due to student adds/drops. Any changes to enrollment may result in class adjustments needing to be made. We thank you for your understanding.
You may also access teacher assignments in the Parent Portal on Monday, August 19th after 3:00 pm (if for some reason you don’t receive an email from the District). We are trying to avoid the system crash when everyone goes online at 3:00 pm.
Dolphin Day - Monday, August 19th @ 4:00-5:30
Find your classroom, eat some ice cream, catch up with friends, join the PTA, and meet a special guest, Dr. Chris Brown, Capistrano Unified School District Superintendent.

Data confirmation must be completed! The Aeries Parent Portal is open Now!
It is EXTREMELY important that you update the contacts and email address on the portal each year. We use this information in case of emergencies. It is also important that you include emergency contacts, besides you, for us to contact in case of emergencies.

Breakfast and Lunches continue to be free to all Capistrano Unified School District students for the 2024-25 school year. Students will be using pin pads this school year and need to know their 7 digit ID numbers to use as their number. Please help your students learn their ID numbers.

TRAFFIC INFO FOR DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP
Drop-off
Come to school early! School begins at 7:45, but it takes a long time for your child to walk to their line. Please try to arrive by 7:40 so that each child can be in their line to be properly greeted by their teacher in the morning. You may arrive as early as 7:30. Do not park or drop-off any student in the Bus Zone. We have multiple buses that come and go at different times. Please be respectful of this rule.
Grades K-5: Drop off at the curb and drive through.
- Have all items ready to go and in the backpack.
- Drivers do not exit the vehicle.
- Say good-bye and give hugs/kisses at home.
- Children should exit the car on the passenger side. The driver side exit is dangerous with cars passing by.
- Make sure you pull all the way up to the curve where the clock is located before allowing the children to exit the car. This helps with traffic flow.
- Watch out for pedestrians as you drive away.
- DO NOT SPEED OR USE CELL PHONES WHEN IN THE PARKING LOT.
*K & 1st Grades may walk their child to the line on the First Day of School only. Starting on the 2nd day of school, we will have big buddies to walk them to their line.
Grade TK: Children must be walked to Gate 1 at the beginning of the school year.
- Please park on the street or in available spots in the lot.
- Give yourself enough time to park and walk in.
- DO NOT PARK IN HANDICAP PARKING SPOTS, UNLESS YOU HAVE AN AUTHORIZING PLACARD.
Pick-up/Dismissal
Communication with your child is important so they know how they will be getting home and who will be picking them up. This should be done before the school day starts.
Grades 1-5:
Drive-thru -
Line up in the drive-thru lane and along the curb on Ave Vista Hermosa. You must wait in line. Do not cut the line. (This is the first drive-way.) Do not use the Bus Zone for pick-up.
Someone will come to your car and radio to the teachers on duty who needs to be picked up.
Please display the "Taxi" with your child's name and grade on it. (New taxis available in the office)
You must be patient in this process.
OR, Park and walk in -
You may also park on the street or in the parking lot.
You must walk to the front of the school to retrieve your child. They will not be allowed to walk through the parking lot or to the street without an adult chaperone.
TK/Kindergarten:
You must park and walk to Gate 1 or Gate 2 for pick up. Your teacher will let you know the procedure.
Be on time, or early, due to limited parking in the lot and teacher duty restrictions.
Do not park in the Handicap spots. This is for drivers/students with authorization and a placard to display.
Do not park in the Bus Drive Thru Zone.
