Gator Parent Newsletter
August-September 2024
Message from Mr. Barnes
Summer is quickly coming to an end. We hope that everyone had a wonderful summer vacation and that our amazing students are ready to return to school. We have missed you and are looking forward to a great year together.
A parent newsletter will be created and sent out each month in order to inform our families of important dates and information. As events approach or timely information needs to be shared, we will be utilizing school messenger as the communication tool. Our goal is to keep you well informed without overwhelming your mailboxes.
A few changes as we embark on the start of the new school year:
MoES Phone Number: 227 - 203 - 1520
MoES Fax Number: 227 - 203 - 1521
2024 - 2025 Building Hours
Front Office: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
Student Arrival: 8:45 am - 9:15 am
Student Dismissal: 3:40 pm - 4:10 pm
Reminder: Monocacy Middle School students will not be permitted on our school grounds at dismissal this year without prior written permission from Mr. Barnes. This is a result of the change in dismissal times leaving 45 minutes for MoMs students to be unsupervised on our property. In order to ensure everyone understands the expectation, consequences, and responsibilities of being on our campus; permission must be received.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back to our newly renovated building. The project is coming along and finishing touches are being applied. A lot of improvements have been made and it looks new (except hallway tile).
Please reach out with any questions, concerns, or support needed.
Sincerely,
Troy Barnes
Principal

Volunteers and Chaperones
Volunteers play a crucial role in the success of our school and truly help to build a strong home-school partnership. Mr. Fowlkes will be coordinating volunteer efforts this year and connecting interested parents with teachers in order to support within and outside of the classroom. If interested in volunteering; please follow the steps below.
In addition, field trips are an important part of our students' learning experiences. In order for us to go on field trips we need chaperones. Chaperones must also complete the volunteer training as indicated below. If you may want to chaperone this year, please complete the steps below so that we can have enough chaperones to attend field trips. Please consider doing this well in advance of a field trip as it will take 72 hours to process after completion of your training. We don't want to be put in a situation because we don't have enough chaperones for trips 3 days in advance.
Steps:
Click here for for directions to complete volunteer training (Spanish directions at bottom after English)
Complete volunteer training through Unified Talent Platform (approximately 1 hour)
After training is completed; you will receive an email with the next steps
Complete 72 hours prior to volunteering or chaperoning (earlier the better)
Mr. Fowlkes or the classroom teacher will be in contact to coordinate volunteering or chaperoning field trips
