Family Information Night K-8 - What to Expect?
Family Information Overview
This year, we are once again delighted to partner with our elementary schools to welcome all our students and their families to our Family Information Night K-8 on Wednesday, August 21st, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This event offers a great opportunity for students and caregivers to explore our buildings, walk through your learner's schedule, and meet our dedicated teachers before the first day of school.
Please note that our middle school will no longer hold a separate Back to School Night in September. However, families who attend Family Information Night will receive a handout with all the essential information that would have been shared during Back to School Night. If you’re unable to join us, rest assured that our teachers will provide you with access to this information after the event.
When arriving for the Family Information Night K-8, you may park in any one of our school parking lots. Based on feedback from last year’s event, we will open the middle school cafeteria doors so that families may easily transition between all three schools (GVMS, GVE & Concord).
This is a wonderful opportunity to open our doors to our entire school community and participate in a shared experience. To improve the experience for all, we have secured several food trucks. The food trucks will be parked between GVMS and GVE along the turn around area next to the football field. This will give you as a family a chance to grab a bite to eat and socialize together with friends and family.
The Garnet Valley Middle School cafeteria will be open, at the large glass windows, to sit and eat, or you may eat outside along the hill. The food trucks have graciously offered to give 10% back to the schools. Any proceeds will be split among the three schools. Thank you in advance for your support.
Be sure to stop by the first floor main commons area. This area will have several tables to visit. We will have the opportunity to purchase locks ($8) and planners ($5) for your middle school student to the middle school. Lockers and planners will also be available for purchase during the first few weeks of school. While in the commons, we encourage you to check out our school store. Students are able to redeem Jag Cash earned to buy a variety of student-selected items. In our next section, we provide additional information on Jag Cash and how it connects to our larger school culture here at GVMS.
CANDY GRAM MESSAGE!
Welcome your student back to school with a Candy Gram! But…shhhh the students don’t know!
We invite all families to surprise their student(s) with a candy gram message. Students will receive your special message with a gourmet lollipop attached.
Candy Grams will be on sale during our Family Information Night on Wednesday, August 21. There will be a table set up in the lobby outside of the auditorium where candy grams can be purchased. Candy Grams cost $1 each.
Not coming in for the Family Information Night? No problem! You can print out the message template attached below and complete it by writing your student’s first and last name, grade, and a special message. Then, place the message in a stamped envelope and return the message and money to GVMS.
You can mail the message and the $1 to:
Nicole Jasper
601 Smithbridge Road
Glen Mills, PA, 19342
Or, you can send your student to school with the message slip and $1 in a sealed envelope labeled “GVMS Fundraiser”. There will be a box in the main office labeled “Fundraiser” where the envelopes can be dropped off during the first week of school. Please have all messages sent in by Thursday, August 29.
Don’t forget though…this is a surprise!
Candy Grams will be delivered to students during the week of September 16. All money raised from this fundraiser will support our PBIS initiatives and school store where students get to cash in their JAG Cash for fun treats and items.
Thank you for helping our Jags be Safe, Respectful, Responsible, and Compassionate!
