We are honored to share that our very own Darla Romberger, Agriculture Sciences teacher and FFA advisor, has been selected as one of only 12 educators from across the state as a 2025 PA Teacher of the Year Finalist.
Anyone who knows Ms. Romberger knows, without hesitation, that she is deserving of this recognition. In addition to both state and national agriculture education accolades in the agriculture education field, she is our Eagle Foundation's 2024 Commitment to Excellence Award Recipient and will be honored at their dinner later this month.
Superintendent Mark Blanchard added about Ms. Romberger: "While Darla is certainly unparalleled in the area of agriculture education, her excellence is not limited to just the fact that she is a master of her subject area. She is truly a teacher first, possessing all and more that is required of someone in this profession."
Pennsylvania's 2025 Teacher of the Year will be announced during a special ceremony this fall.
On Monday, April 15, 2024, we celebrated our Olympians who competed in our annual Special Olympics at Chapman Field. We kicked off the day with a parade of athletes, followed by the games. Thank you to our student-athletes, buddies, staff, and wonderful community of supporters who came together for a beautiful event.
ISTE Certified Teachers
Congratulations to Mario de La Barrera and Kara Boehne-Miele, who have earned their International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) teacher certification credentials. They are currently the district's only ISTE-certified teachers. In their words ...
Mario de La Barrera
"The ISTE Certification process was a challenging and rewarding process. The program itself ensured that I applied many of the competencies we ask our students in our Portrait of an Eagle. The end result has been increasing my confidence to implement lessons with purpose, thoughtful intention in the integration of technology, and fidelity in 21st Century Learning to ensure our students continue to thrive as CV Eagles."
Kara Boehne-Miele
"The ISTE Certification process propelled me to re-evaluate my use of educational technology in instruction. Through creating new resources and revamping old projects under the lens of the most current best practices, my completed portfolio is now a catalog of tools to use moving forward."
Mr. de La Barrera is an Explorations Teacher at Hampden Elementary School and Ms. Boehne-Miele is our Library, Media, and Information Science Department Chair.
The CV Spiralettes, through our Cumberland Valley Community Aquatic Program, invite you to their annual Synchronized Swimming Show, Summertime Splash. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. on April 19 and 20, 2024, in the Cumberland Valley High School pool. Tickets are $10 (cash only) and available for purchase at the door.
Portrait of an Eagle: Student Spotlight
Some of our Class of 2024 Eagles teamed up recently to volunteer at the Central PA Food Bank. Through their efforts, they helped provide meals to 400 Central PA families. They are a Portrait of an Eagle. Photo courtesy Ms. Alicia Hack, Senior Class Co-Advisor.

Attention CV9 families only: At the Jan. 8, 2024, Board of School Directors meeting, the Board approved an amendment to the 2023-2024 school calendar, changing the scheduled spring Virtual Day for CV9 to April 23, 2024.
