CURRENT EVENTS
Take the 28 Days of Kindness Challenge
Throughout the month, King students will be talking about kindness. We are excited to show kindness to others by making cards for police officers and for some of our elderly community members living in nursing homes. You can continue the conversation about kindness at home with the 28 Days of Kindness Challenge:
- Do an extra chore at home without being asked.
- Write your school counselors a thank you note.
- Pick up litter.
- Chalk your sidewalk with positive messages.
- Compliment a friend.
- Fight hunger with games at FreeRice.com.
- Write a thank you note to your mail carrier and other delivery drivers.
- Bake a treat and deliver it to your neighbors.
- Talk to someone new.
- Smile at everyone you see.
- Do not complain all day.
- Cook or help cook dinner tonight.
- Read a book to someone.
- Write your teacher or co-worker a thank you note.
- Tell a joke.
- Teach someone something new.
- Write your parents or family members a thank you letter.
- Decorate kindness rocks. Leave them at a nearby park.
- Play a game with someone. Let them choose the game.
- Do something kind for a neighbor or family member, and do not tell them that you did it.
- Call your grandparents or other relatives just to say, 'I love you.'
- Hold the door for someone.
- Write kind messages or quotes and leave them for people to find at home or school.
- Say 'thank you' often.
- Tell three people something you like about them.
- Let someone else choose what to watch on TV or what game to play after school.
- Be nice to animals today. Play fetch with your dog or feed the birds.
- Be kind to yourself! Tell yourself three things that you like about YOU!
Our New Attendance Goal has us dancing!
Our next goal is to spell the word DANCE by having 95% or higher attendance for five days. When we reach our new goal students will get to enjoy a dance party. Our goal is 95% because we understand that there will be absences for illness and emergencies. We are hoping that outside of illnesses and emergencies all students will be attendance. We currently have earned the first letter.
5210+ Challenge
The Challenge is On!
The Healthy Kids 5210+ Challenge is a FREE month-long program, during February, where students, school staff and families learn and practice the 5210+ healthy habits. The goal is to get 5 servings of fruits and vegetables, 2 hours or less of recreational screen time,1 hour or more of physical activity, 0 sugary drinks and 9 or more hours of sleep every day!
Your student(s) will be bringing home a tracking log to keep track of their healthy habits throughout the month of February. Students that complete 80 checkmarks on their log will earn a FREE t-shirt. All students and staff that participate can help our school earn money for PE equipment and school wellness initiatives.

School Reminders
Safety Reminders for Kiss and Go Lane:
As we continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of our students, we would like to address an important matter regarding the use of the "Kiss and Go" lane.
It has come to our attention that some parents are parking in the "Kiss and Go" lane during drop-off and pick-up times. While we understand the convenience this may offer, it poses significant safety risks for our students. The "Kiss and Go" lane is designed for quick drop-offs and pick-ups only, allowing traffic to flow smoothly and ensuring that students can enter and exit vehicles safely.
Parking in this lane can lead to congestion and can cause drivers to make unsafe choices. To maintain a safe environment for all, we kindly ask that you refrain from parking in the "Kiss and Go" lane. Instead, please use the designated parking areas if you need to leave your vehicle.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this matter. By working together, we can ensure that our school remains a safe place for all students.
Thank you for your attention to this important issue.
Kiss and Go Reminders
- Be alert: Watch for pedestrians and other vehicles as you approach and leave the area.
- Children first: Always help children exit the vehicle on the curbside for safety.
- Be patient: Our special education buses can sometimes cause a delay. Please be patient while they load/unload students from these buses.
- Move efficiently: Pull up as far as you can and keep traffic flowing to ensure a smooth and safe experience for everyone.
- No parking: This lane is for quick drop-off/pick-up only—Please park in a designated spot if you are walking away from your vehicle.
Thank you for helping keep our school community safe!
Health Room Clothing Reminders
Please return clothes that come home
Reminder: If your student comes home with an extra set of clothing. we ask that you please launder all items (except shoes) and return them to the office as soon as possible. We would like to keep our supply of donated items available for any student who may need them. This could include shirt, pants, underwear, socks and shoes.
Health Room Needs
Our Health room could use some clothing donations. Specifically, we could really use some girls and boys K-2 pants (Size 5-7).
