Dear Parents,

In just a few years and less than a year for others, our students will be taking the STAAR state assessment and will need to keep up with a rigorous academic curriculum. To ensure they are well-prepared, we must focus on building strong foundational skills now.

One of the best ways to support your child is by reading to them daily. This simple yet powerful habit can significantly enhance their learning and readiness for the next grade level. Here are some tips for making the most of your reading time together:

• Discuss the story: Ask questions about the plot, characters, and what might happen next to engage your child's thinking.
• Make it interactive: Use different voices for characters and encourage your child to join in.
• Connect reading to real life: Relate the stories to your child's experiences and surroundings.

Please attend the Parent Workshop about Reading that will be provided during the Family STEM Night on March 4th from 6:00-6:30pm.

En tan solo poco tiempo, nuestros estudiantes tomarán la evaluación estatal STAAR y deberán mantenerse al día con un plan de estudios académico riguroso. Para garantizar que estén bien preparados, debemos centrarnos en desarrollar habilidades fundamentales sólidas ahora.

Una de las mejores maneras de apoyar a su hijo es leyéndole diariamente. Este hábito simple pero poderoso puede mejorar significativamente su aprendizaje y preparación para el siguiente grado. A continuación se ofrecen algunos consejos para aprovechar al máximo el tiempo de lectura juntos:

• Discuta el cuento/la historia: haga preguntas sobre la trama, los personajes y lo que podría suceder a continuación para estimular el pensamiento de su hijo.
  
• Hágalo interactivo: use diferentes voces para los personajes y anime a su hijo a unirse.
  
• Conecte la lectura con la vida real: relacione las historias con las experiencias y el entorno de su hijo.
  

Asista al taller para padres sobre lectura que se brindará durante la Noche Familiar STEM el 4 de marzo de 6:00 a 6:30 p.m.
