Message From the Principal
Good Morning BW Families,
We will be welcoming back hundreds of kids very soon and we are excited but also a little nervous. This is the first time we have opened the doors of school online! We hope that everything has been covered but also know that we are human and may run into a hiccup or two. We appreciate your generous grace and patience as we continue to serve in the virtual world. Below I’ve shared some additional information that may be helpful. Please, as always, reach out. We are here to support you and our kids!
Supply Pick Up
If you were unable to swing by and pick up your supply bag, math consumable and schedule, it is waiting for you! Just stop by school anytime between 8am-4pm, Monday – Friday and we will get you your supplies. If you are unable to stop in, please send an email or call and we will deliver it to your home.
BW Learning Hub
Our Learning Hub is now live! Please click on https://www.bwlearninghub.org/ and visit the site to find your teachers, their zoom links and other helpful information. This year, the BW Learning Hub will be your home base. If you ever get lost, just come here. You can also go to the Brittany Woods School District website and click on the link too. Just go to the district website and then click on the BW Learning Hub link and you will be connected to the Hub.
Remember, the BW Learning Hub has all the links to teacher’s zoom classes. Students just need to come here to get to the zoom link that will take them to their classes. Students can also see the overview of learning for the week and find assignments for each teacher too. We will continually be updating the BW Learning Hub to keep it current.

Confused? You are not alone! We hope this video will help you navigate how to read your child’s schedule. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions!
Accelerated ELA Class & No Schedule Changes
Just a reminder that Accelerated ELA will not meet as a stand-alone class. Teachers have been given the list of Accelerated ELA students and will be differentiating to meet the needs of students within the ELA class.
Also, we do not have the flexibility as in years past to make schedule changes because of the cohort schedule design. We appreciate your understanding! Please contact your grade level principal if you would like to talk about any scheduling needs.
Monday Morning, 8/24
Your child should have or will be receiving an email from their advisory teacher welcoming them to the class and providing a zoom link. Advisory begins at 8:00am and we can’t wait to see everyone!

A Note from the Nurse
Hello Brittany Woods Middle School Families!
My name is Dena Bashiti and I will be your student’s new school nurse at Brittany Woods. I have been a school nurse for the past 12 years working with all ages and grade levels, but my favorite place has always been amongst middle school-aged children. They are rapidly growing and changing, and I understand the great challenges they are presented with emotionally and physically and how that can translate into the classroom. I will advocate for your student’s overall health and wellness, and assist them to understand the importance of the mind-body connection. University City is an amazing community and I am so excited to be a part of it! Please see the information below that is sent to all families in our District, with specific requirements for middle school-aged children:
The health care team of the School District of University City welcomes all new and returning families. We also would like to remind families of the importance of annual physicals and up-to-date immunization records. Vaccine preventable diseases have the potential to increase when the number of vaccinated children starts to decline. This puts our children at increased risk of catching these diseases. During a pandemic, it is best to be fully vaccinated to minimize the risk of becoming infected with preventable diseases.
Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Bureau of Immunization, states requirements remain the same for 2020-2021 school year enrollments. All immunizations must be up-to-date before school enrollment. This also includes virtual enrollment because children who do not receive all of their vaccines are still at risk of being exposed to diseases.
Students entering 8th grade need a Tdap booster (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis) and at least one dose of MCV4 (Meningococcal) to meet the requirements. You can scan the updated immunization record directly to my email or fax to Brittany Woods, the number is listed above.
The health team is also recommending an annual flu vaccine for all children 6 months and older. Pediatric offices and clinics are open for physicals and vaccinations. Please make your appointment as soon as possible. If you do not have a private doctor, North County Community Health Center, 4000 Jennings Station Road has a walk-in immunization clinic Monday-Friday. The phone number is 314-615-9700. A flyer is located on the district website or Peach Jar.
If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to meeting you and your students in the near future!
Stay Safe and Healthy,
Nurse Dena
