Term 2 Parent Teacher Conferences will take place on Thursday, December 5 from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Please note Term 2 conferences will be fully virtual and we will continue to utilize the online scheduling program, SchoolSoft, to enable parents to schedule individual appointments.
In the attachment below, you will find detailed directions to access and schedule the conference appointments with LOHS staff. Conveniently, this process is done through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. The system is now open to schedule appointments through Thursday, December 5 until 10 a.m.
The Lake Orion Community Schools Parent University Series continues with the second session in the social media and cell phone awareness series on Monday, December 9, 2024 in the KIVA at Lake Orion High School for families of students at all levels. The event will be held from 6:30-8:30p.m..
The evening will feature a showing of "The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt" webinar, followed by a whole group discussion.
If parents would prefer, they can watch the webinar at home and just attend the group discussion, which will begin at 7:45 p.m., led by LOCS Superintendent Heidi Mercer.

LOHS STAFF HOLIDAY COOKIE BUFFET
The LOHS staff is wonderful, and the holidays are one time of the year we can let them know how thankful we are for their dedication to our kids! They work long hours…coming in early, countless evenings spent grading, assessing and compiling lesson plans. This leaves them little time to plan for the holidays with their own family, so LOHS families will be providing them with Christmas cookies!
The LOHS Parent Group (formally PTO) is requesting donated homemade cookies from our families. Due to an allergy in the school, we CANNOT accept cookies containing PEANUTS OR PEANUT BUTTER and please also bring a copy of the recipe. You can deliver the cookies to school Dec. 9 and 10 between 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the front doors. The staff will get to partake in a Christmas buffet of cookies on December 11, creating a platter to take home to share with their families this season!

Instead of getting caught up in what items to put on a wish list or gifts to buy, spend some time thinking about giving to others. The holidays are an important time for our students to give back to their community and helping others is the best way to spread holiday cheer. Students might even adopt an “attitude of gratitude”!
Please encourage your student to check the email from Ms. P on the MANY December Service Opportunities or look on the LOHS Service Learning website. All opportunities are listed in x2VOL under the Green “Find Opportunities” button with DECEMBER in the title.
Please take a moment to remind your child that students at Lake Orion High School are required to obtain a parking pass to park legally on campus. Recently, we’ve put up signs indicating that any unauthorized vehicles will be towed by Buckhorn, and we appreciate your understanding in this matter.
To ensure a smooth parking experience, students can purchase their parking passes before school or during lunch. We’ve noticed an increase in vehicles parked in unauthorized areas, so please remind your student to park only in designated spots.

The first week of December is here, and so is our updated live broadcast schedule. This week we'll produce 2 episodes of our newscast. (Please note there is NO SHOW at 12:55 p.m. this Friday).
Plus, we'll have live broadcasts of 3 home varsity basketball games.
As always, tune in at www.dragonbroadcasting.org. (A subscription of $11.99 is required to view sports broadcasts, but nearly half of that money comes directly back to our broadcast program.)
It is college application season! Lake Orion High School has partnered with Parchment to order and send your transcript and other credentials securely. *This is a FREE account to you and can work with two different e-mails.

The intent of the Distinguished Dragon program is to ensure that staff members who go above and beyond their regular duties are appreciated. The additional effort or support can range from helping an individual to helping a group or any effort that seems worthy of praise.
The staff member can be nominated by a student, parent, community member or even their own colleague. We ask for the submitter's name and contact information to follow up with specific questions if necessary.
