NWEA Testing Next Week
The NWEA testing is a valuable opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have learned. To help your child feel ready for success, here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Testing Dates: Testing will begin on January 28th. Please make sure your child is present and arrives on time each day.
- Rest and Nutrition: A good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast are key to staying focused. Please encourage your child to rest well the night before and eat a nutritious breakfast each morning.
- Positive Mindset: Testing can sometimes feel overwhelming, but we want students to approach it with confidence. Encourage your child to do their best and remember that this is just one way we measure learning.
- Support at Home: Practice some relaxation techniques with your child if they feel anxious, like deep breathing or positive affirmations. Remind them that their effort is what matters most.
We are proud of the hard work our students have put in this year, and we are confident they will do their very best.
Coming Down to the Principal's Office!!
At Fairmount, visiting the principal’s office doesn’t always mean you’re in trouble—it can be an opportunity to connect, celebrate, or simply share a moment together. I’ve been lucky to meet so many wonderful Fairmount friends, and I’d like to share those moments with all of you!
Moving forward, I’ll be adding pictures of the amazing friends I’ve made right here in the principal’s office to our newsletter. Keep an eye out—you might just see a familiar face!
Let’s continue making Fairmount a place where everyone feels welcome and celebrated. 😊

Measure What Matters
The link to the Measure What Matters video, filmed by the Maine Department of Education (MEDOE) last August and September, is shared below. The Maine Department of Education hosted community meetings across the state for educators, parents, students, and business leaders to come together and discuss a shared vision for Maine schools. The focus was on developing relevant ways to recognize and acknowledge what schools were doing to prepare students for success in their lives, a rapidly changing global economy, their careers, and as engaged and productive citizens of Maine.
It was time to measure what mattered.
Bangor Schools were prominently featured throughout the video, including appearances from staff and school committee members, as well as various shots of our school buildings and the BHS band practicing on stage.
The conversations invited people to share what they valued in the schools in their communities and how school success in Maine could be celebrated. These thoughts and ideas were used to develop a portrait of a great school in Maine based on what the people of Maine valued for their schools.
