FAPS #WeAreFenton Community Update
May 10 , 2024 (Final Newsletter of School Year)
Exciting End of Year Celebrations
Dear Fenton Community and Families
As we close the curtain on another remarkable school year, I find myself filled with immense pride and gratitude. This final newsletter serves as a poignant reminder of all we've achieved together, a testament to the unwavering spirit that thrives within our district.
First and foremost, a heartfelt congratulations to our graduating class! You stand poised on the precipice of a thrilling future, brimming with promise and potential. Your journey through our schools has been one of dedication, resilience, and unwavering curiosity. You've tackled challenges, nurtured friendships, and discovered your passions. Remember, the lessons learned within these walls extend far beyond the classroom. Carry with you the spirit of collaboration, the thirst for knowledge, and the confidence to pursue your dreams. On May 23rd @6:30 we will get the honor of watching our 2024 graduates walk across the stage, and I am very excited to get the opportunity to articulate a few parting words and how proud we are of their accomplishments.
This momentous occasion wouldn't be possible without the unwavering dedication of our incredible staff. To our teachers, administrators, support personnel, and volunteers, your efforts deserve the highest praise. You are the architects of inspiration, the nurturers of young minds, and the champions who guide our students towards excellence. Your passion and commitment are the lifeblood of our district.
This year has been a testament to the collective strength of our community. Parents, guardians, and community members, your unwavering support has been instrumental in our success. You've volunteered your time, championed our initiatives, instilled in our students the importance of lifelong learning, and supported our school district with a bond proposal that will last the school-lives of many of our students now and for the future.
As we bid farewell to this academic year, let us take a moment to celebrate these, our collective, accomplishments.
Last day of the school year is June 4, and this marks the last newsletter of the 23-24 school year. The first newsletter of the 24-25 school year will start in August with our Back-to-School Information.
On behalf of the entire school district, I extend my sincerest gratitude for your continued support. Here's to a well-deserved summer break and an exciting new chapter that awaits us all in the fall.
With warmest regards,
Superintendent Heidie Ciesielski
Thank you FAPS Teachers! You are invaluable to our WeAreFenton Family
This week was National Teacher Recognition and Appreciation, and we can't thank all of our FAPS Teachers enough for their impact on our school system, and the impact they have on the future of our community. I would encourage you to either reach out to a past teacher of yours, reach out to your child's favorite teacher, or a friend that is a teacher and thank them for their service. I leave you with this quote from Andy Rooney, "Most of us end up with no more than a dozen people who remember us. Teachers have thousands of people who remember them for the rest of their lives"
In honor of teachers, take a look at this article that is a pretty good picture of "What Teachers Wish Parents Knew" https://everyteachereveryday.kinf.org/what-teachers-wish-parents-knew/
FAPS Administrative Staffing for 2024-25
First, I would like to say how much I appreciate our administrative team as May/June can be some of the most stress filled weeks of the year, and our administrators tend to do it with grace and care -I can't thank them enough for all that they do.
For the 2024-25 school year, we will be changing up some of the administrative assignments as well as welcoming some familiar faces back to our district.
- We are excited to welcome back Melody Strang, former Genesee Superintendent and FAPS Curriculum Director/NR Principal to Fenton Horizon Academy as a part time admin.
- Craig Salter will be moving over to be the principal of State Road Elementary.
- Megan Yelle will be moving to AGS as Assistant Principal.
- Lisa Wissinger will be the new Dean of Students at AGS.
With Mr. Salter moving over to State Road Elementary, we will be posting Tomek Elementary's Principal and look forward to adding a new awesome member to our team at Tomek. Will will work collaboratively with our Tomek PTO, Staff and district representatives to find an amazing candidate.
Retiring Staff Members
Congrats to those retiring from our school district - we wish nothing more than continued happiness in your next adventure! #WeAreFenton
Stay tuned for the announcement of THE Support Staff Person of the Year next week!

Bond Update
We will be busy kicking off our Series 1 Bond Project work this summer. We will start the new entrance at AGS inclusive of site work (sidewalk). Also, we will be completing the sinking fund project of resurfacing the high school track, which means that too will be closed. We realize that many people use this to walk, and wanted to give you all an heads up regarding the work. Consult the BOND portion of our website for more information
