Academies in Action: Freshman Academy
Extended Learning Opportunities Enlighten Student Experiences: Freshman Academy students with no failures or behaviors were recognized in March with a trip to Film Streams to watch the John Lewis: Good Trouble film and discuss social justice and its importance in today’s world. We love celebrating our students and have more recognition projects in the works for next year!

School Partners and Service Learning: Our school Partner, UNL Next Chapter, has been working with Freshmen students on a Service-Learning Project focused on staff appreciation. Next Chapter hosted a luncheon for teachers, while student project components included writing thank you notes to their teachers. Students shared their gratitude for their teachers’ abilities to impact students’ lives and making our classrooms welcoming and safe places to be.

Visualization Increases Motivation! Freshman Academy students continue to visit college campuses to fulfill our goal to ensure students are exposed to the many post-secondary opportunities available to them. 9th graders are visiting Metropolitan Community College this semester. We are proud of you, Bears, and can’t wait to celebrate your achievements to come!
