Principal Message - Kanika A. Burks
Good Morning MCP: Lola Rowe North Families,
Thank you for your grace and patience while waiting for this week's newsletter!!! SHOUT OUT TO our 8th Grade Families who attended the High School Parent Meeting last night! Yes...it is time to have our 8th graders apply to at least three high schools!!!
Friday, September 15, 2023 was the official start date of Hispanic Heritage Month. We will observe this month by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America during our assemblies, circles, proactivity time and even making connections during content classes.
Our TRECK Value this month is TRUST. TRUST is the assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something. This week we are focusing on working as a team and what reliance really means. We can not support our scholars to pave the road to college and beyond alone. The MCP staff and the MCP VIPs (Very Important Parents) must work together to build and maintain trust to ensure the success of the young people we love.
Thank you to the families who have practiced patience during morning arrival and dismissal on 14th Street and in our campus parking lot. I would love to hear from you if you have any feedback or suggestions about AM or PM carline. Please don't hesitate to call, text or email me!!
Remember the office is closed between 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm to support our dismissal process. If there is an emergency, please call my work cell phone (the number is below). If you have any questions, please contact me.

SHOUT OUT TO: Ms. Fore & Ms. Mitchell and Ms. Williams & Mr. Liddell
Our K4 team is setting the bar high for our youngest scholars. During their phonemic awareness lessons, Ms. Williams and Ms. Fore use the no opt out and 100% techniques. They are strategic with their means of participation by teaching whole group, cold calling, and having small targetted groups of scholars answer as their checks for understanding. They have planned for error by adding in repeated response and call and response for scholars that are struggling with the concept. Way to go K4 team!

Middle School News
Middle School Uniform Extension
We want to inform you of an important update regarding the deadline for obtaining our Middle School scholars' Monday and Wednesday professional attire. After carefully considering various factors, we have decided to extend the deadline for scholars to acquire their professional attire.
The new deadline for obtaining the Monday and Wednesday professional attire will be moved from September 6th to October 2nd. This decision has been made in response to the unexpected delay in the time for parents to place orders and receive the attire. Our primary goal is to ensure that all scholars have ample time to acquire their attire and are well-prepared for the upcoming schedule.
We understand that ordering and receiving the attire has taken longer than anticipated, and we want to ensure that this extension allows everyone to plan and obtain the necessary clothing adequately. We believe that extending the deadline will assist in alleviating any potential concerns and ensuring that all scholars have the appropriate professional attire.
We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work to provide the best experience for our scholars. If you have any questions or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
