Hello Woodsy Owls,
Hello Woodsy Owls,
I hope everyone enjoyed their time with family, and hopefully we are all rested up and can finally claim victory over the virus that is seeming to get to so many of us.
We only have two weeks left in this trimester, and then conferences are coming up on March 20th and 21st. This is a great time to check in with your student's teacher and find out what they are excelling at as well as any areas where some extra at home practice might be useful.
This Wednesday is our Winter Learning Fest, and we are still taking RSVP's. We hope you can join us for an hour of sharing some fabulous ways to increase literacy and learning while still keeping up with your very busy lifestyle.
I look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday. Have a great week.
It truly takes a village.

Deputy Sheriff Kevin Hills is our School Resource Officer (SRO). School resource officers "provide an on-site high visible presence to deter or identify trespassers on campus, investigate crimes related to the school population, liaison between school cooperators and the Sheriff’s Office, and service the surrounding communities by addressing public safety concerns related to the schools." https://www.placer.ca.gov/7112/Youth-and-Community-Services-Unit
Deputy Kevin Hills has been with the PCSO for 8 years and was with the LA PD for 5 years before this. A father of three kids, ages 3, 6, & 8, he is keenly aware of the need for safe and welcoming schools. He is the SRO for Sierra Hills, Weimar Hills, Alta Dutch Flat, Colfax Elementary, and Colfax High School. He has already met many of the students and hopes to be around more and more to continue meeting them and meeting their families as well. The next few weeks he won't be around much as he has vacation time and specialized training (Marine Patrol) in Southern California. After March 7th, he will be visible on campus often. I hope you get a chance to meet him and chat with him. It is great to know that we have law enforcement looking out for the continued safety of our school and especially our kids.
If you need to reach him, you can call the non-emergency PCSO's number at 530-886-5375 and leave a message for him by name. Although his availability is limited for the next three weeks, after that I know that he will promptly get in touch with you.
