Information from Mrs. Grosch
It’s incredible to think that March is here. The days are getting longer, and the sun is shining brighter. Spring is definitely on the way. As we approach the conclusion of our 2nd trimester, progress reports will be viewable in Infinite Campus on March 21. We are proud of all that our students have achieved and hope you will celebrate your child's successes as well. If you have any questions about your student's overall progress, please contact your child's classroom teacher for more information. We appreciate your partnership and thank you for supporting your child as he/she learns and grows at MJ each day.
Our staff had an opportunity to engage in Professional Development during the afternoon of Tuesday, March 11. All staff participated in first aid training to better be able to respond to colleagues and students should they sustain an injury at school. Staff also discussed and created action plans around the needs of today's students in classrooms to best support these needs. It is fair to say that just as students expand their repertoire of knowledge and strategies, so do the adults. Finally, staff was afforded time to complete the 5 Essentials Survey. This survey gathers triangulated data from staff, students, and parents. Our staff and students have provided their perspective via the survery, and we hope you will take the opportunity to do so as well. Our ability to respond, grow, and make changes is only as good as the data we receive to drive our decisions and actions. The survey takes approximately 20 minutes to complete and we appreciate your feedback. The link for the parent survey is http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/.
Gentle Reminders
- School starts each day at 8:25am. Thank you for making every effort to have your child arrive early enough to visit their locker and be in their classroom on time, ready to learn, by the sound of the bell.
- Our parking lot is a cell phone free zone. This is especially important at drop off and pick up times. There are many staff, students and parents navigating our small space in a short amount of time. Thank you for putting your phone aside to give full attention to your surroundings as you navigate the parking lot.
- Students continue to go outdoors for recess as often as possible. While 40 degrees feels balmy compared to the single digit readings we had previously, it is still cold and long pants and jackets are needed.
- Kindly avoid sending any glass containers to school in your child's lunchbox. If dropped, these containers will shatter. Plastic or metal containers ensure safer conditions for all.
- If your child arrives to school after 8:25am, they need to be signed in by an adult in the school office. Thank you for accompanying them in and signing them in.

Words of Wisdom
Some ways to build that strong connection include:
- Show your love and say "I love you" often.
- Be available and spend distraction-free time together.
- Listen to them. Show them that you understand them with empathy.
- Set and clearly communicate healthy boundaries, rules and consequences.
- Create parent/child rituals together.
- Play together!
Choir Concert
The Marion Jordan Choir, under the direction of Ms. Ashley Storinger, held a concert this month. Oh what a beautiful sound their voices made, and oh how their voices carried to fill the room with music. Keep up the good work, MJ Choir!
Let’s March Toward Success!
Attendance Matters
Spring is a great time to reinforce strong attendance habits. Every day in class is an opportunity for learning and growth. Even missing just a couple of days per month can impact a student’s progress.
Simple routines like consistent mornings and scheduling appointments outside school hours can help. Thank you for supporting your child’s success by making attendance a priority!
