Sandhill E-News
Week of 9/16/2024
A Message from Mr. Johnson:
Hello Sandhill Families,
We’ve wrapped up another great week at Sandhill, and I want to thank all of our students for their patience and participation during our first fire drill of the year. Safety is a top priority, and our students did a wonderful job.
This week, we also completed benchmark/screening testing for our 2nd-5th grade students. Next, we will begin diagnostics for students who met the thresholds in those grades. Following that, we’ll start benchmarking/screening for 1st graders and Kindergarteners later in the week, likely starting Tuesday. This process is similar to what we’ve done in the past, but we are also practicing using many of the new tools and processes that will soon be required by Wisconsin's Act 20.
What is Act 20?
Act 20 is new legislation in Wisconsin that requires schools to implement specific academic screening and intervention practices to help ensure all students receive the support they need to succeed. As we implement these changes, we’re working hard to align our practices with the new guidelines.
Thank you for your continued support and for helping make this school year a success!
Bob/Mr. Johnson
School District Updates
Spring 2024 Forward Individual Student Report (ISR) Sent via USPS
In the near future, you will receive a paper copy of your student’s Individual Student Report (ISR) mailed to your residence via the United States Postal Service. The ISR provides information about your child’s performance on the Wisconsin Forward Exam. The Forward Exam was administered during the spring of 2024 in English language arts (ELA) and mathematics for students in grades 3-8, science for grades 4 and 8, and social studies for grades 4, 8, and 10. As part of the Wisconsin Student Assessment System, the Forward Exam is a large-scale, standardized achievement test designed to assess what students know in relation to the Wisconsin Academic Standards.
Please remember that the ISR is just one of many indicators of your child’s academic performance. To obtain a more complete picture of your student’s areas of strength and growth, it is important to consider information from a wide variety of sources.
For more information on ISRs, or your student’s learning experience and performance, please contact your student’s classroom teacher or your school principal.
