Attention TGS Alum & Supporters: The Blue & Gold Golf Tournament Fundraiser 5/14
In the twenty years of previous Blue and Gold events, we have raised over $110,000. Proceeds from this year’s Golf and 5K fundraiser will go towards multiple beneficiaries of the Gilbert Athletic Department such as replacing deteriorating equipment, improving facilities, and providing student athletes with rewarding experiences. The Athletic Department has benefited from prior Blue and Gold tournaments in a number of different ways including gear for athletic programs, a long jump pit, indoor scoreboard, trophy cases, wrestling mats, and assistance for team trips to China, Florida, Cooperstown, NY and more. Your continued support of The Gilbert School Athletic Program is essential and very much appreciated by our school and our student athletes.

“It doesn’t matter what you are trying to accomplish. It’s all a matter of discipline.”
-Wilma Rudolph
In April we had some work done on the middle school baseball field here at Gilbert. Darek Schibi and his crew spread and graded 44 tons of Duraedge infield mix. So far it has held up well after the rains and seems to be running water off as it should be. We hope to have the pitcher's mound rebuilt next year.
While there are many games left to play in the Spring season, we also have some key dates to be aware of for the next several weeks:
May 14 - The Gilbert School Athletics Department is bringing back The Gilbert Blue and Gold Golf fundraiser. We currently have 97 golfers signed up and are looking for more. The goal is 144 golfers. If you're not a golfer, you are encouraged to come and enjoy the dinner meal following the golf game and participate in the raffle of numerous great prizes. For more information click here, or contact the Director of Athletics or any Gilbert coach.
May 22 - The 39th Annual Connecticut High School Scholar Athlete Awards Program will be held. Along with Scholar Athletes from across the state, we will be honoring two of Gilbert's highest achievers in academics and athletics. Seniors Ajla Gutic and Nathen Fields
June 1 - (5:00 PM) The Gilbert Spring Sports Award Ceremony will be held in the Gilbert Auditorium. All spring athletes and their families are encouraged to come and celebrate their student athlete.
June 2 - (6:00 PM) Berkshire All-Star Banquet - The following Gilbert All-Stars and their parents are invited to attend this event: Emily Arel (Girls Basketball), Sam Goncalves (Wrestling), Hosam Abdullah (Wrestling), and Jonathan Eagan (wrestling). Great job being selected for All-Star status.
June 6 - (6:00 PM) The Senior Athletes Banquet, sponsored by the Lions Club, will be held in the Gilbert Cafeteria and catered by the Railway Cafe. All Senior student-athletes and their guests are invited. There will be awards handed out at this final Senior Athletics recognition ceremony. Athletes' meals are paid for by the Lions Club. Please submit checks made out to Gilbert Athletics for $15 per additional guest by May 10.
We still have about four weeks of regular season sports. I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the weather while watching Gilbert student athletes perform on the field, court or track. It truly means a lot when our kids can look out in the stands and see friends and family watching them play.
To follow any of the Gilbert Spring Sports teams and their schedules, navigate to our Athletics webpage where you will find the schedule for each of the Spring teams. We hope you get out to watch as many of the games as possible. The athletes love to see the bleachers full of parents, family and friends. For Gilbert athletic updates, navigate to and follow or like the TGS Athletic Department page on Facebook. We also recommend parents and student-athletes visit the Gilbert Athletics webpage where you will find the Athletics Handbook. All athletes should know it, front to back.

Physicals for Students in Grade 9
All students in Grade 9 need to have a physical examination by their physician. “Blue” physical forms should be submitted to the nurse’s office before they start Grade 10. The physical forms can be found in physician’s offices, TGS main office and nurses office, and the website. If you have any questions regarding this state mandated requirement, please contact the nurses. If your child has already had a physical and you would like to have your physician fax a copy, the confidential direct fax number is 860 738 9651.
Postural/Scoliosis Screening
The State of Connecticut requires scoliosis screening for girls in Grade 7 and boys in Grade 9. If the school has record of the screening that was performed during their physical examination by their physician they will be exempt. Screenings are performed by the nurses in a private area.
Project Covid DeteCT Continues

Sick student? Need a home COVID test kit?
Rapid home COVID antigen test kits are available from the nurse’s office should you need one at home for a sick child. Please contact the nurse’s office to arrange for pick up. In the event that your child tests positive for COVID, please keep your child home and notify the nurse’s office. Students who test positive for COVID may return to school on Day 6 if they are feeling better.
