QT1-Week 9: Sept. 23-27

Happy Sunday Tornillo PK-8 Students & Parents!

It's hard to believe that this week marks the end of our first marking period. I would like to thank all of our families for all of your help for the 1st 9 weeks. Our teachers and students have been working extremely hard in order to get to know our students and provide support to close instructional gaps and challenge our students that are already at grade level. This week all of our PK-8 students will be taking 9 week assessments. Please help us by reminding your child to do their best and show what they know.

October Intersession Learning Camps (PK-8 students)

As we get ready to wrap up our nine weeks we want to continue to support all of our PK-8 Coyotes during intersession break. Intersession camps for our campus will be held, September 30-October 4 for students PK-8th grade. Students received an invitation this past week in order to help develop English language, increase grades, meet STAAR tutoring requirements or attendance.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided to students who attend intersession camp. Transportation will also be available for students who regulalry take the bus. If you have any questions about Intersession Camps, please reach out to your child's teacher.

Students who attend intersession camp will be eligible for daily prize drawings. Students with 100% attendance all 4 days of intersession will be getting a Pizza Party at the end of the tutoring day.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

We want to thank you for coming out to our Fall Parent & Teacher Conferences and keeping aware of your child's behavior and academic progress. If you were not able to make it, please reach out to your child's teacher to schedule an appointment.

Campus Attendance

We take a lot of pride in our attendance at Tornillo PK-8. Please help us maintain it at 98%! September is Attendance Awareness Month and in order to help promote our attendance, our students are encouraged to dress-up every Wednesday. For this Wednesday, students are encouraged to dress in red, white, & blue in observance of September 11 Remembrance. You can find the Attendance Dress-Up day descriptions at the end of our newsletter.
