Parent and Family Engagement at Truitt Middle School
Hello TMS Family!!! Look for our newsletter at the end of each week for family resources, support, and information to help your family throughout the 2024-2025 school year.
A WORD FROM OUR PRINCIPAL, DR. WILLIAMS
Dear Truitt Middle School Families,
Welcome to the 2024 - 2025 school year! We are so thrilled to welcome our students and staff back to school. We hope that you were able to relax and make special memories with your friends and families over the summer. Now it is time to look forward to a wonderful new school year as we "Believe" and know nothing is IMPOSSIBLE here at Truitt Middle School!
Our incredible staff of educators have been in staff development throughout the summer to prepare for the new school year. We are grateful to our amazing custodial staff as they worked all summer getting our school in pristine shape. Our secretarial staff are working hard to ensure a smooth start for staff, students, and families.
Truitt Middle School is such a special place to learn and grow. We are proud of our beautiful school and have high expectations for each and every student. Our students take pride in our P.A.C.K. Pride, Accountability, Cooperation, and Kindness. Together with our dedicated staff, we strive to make connections with students to help them feel valued, accepted, and safe. Our Truitt motto of “Remember the PACK” will continue to guide our mission to provide a rigorous and joyful inclusive school environment. Our overarching mission for our TMS learning community is one that educationally empowers, socially encourages, and emotionally inspires lifelong learners who positively impact current and future generations.
We are excited to return to what will be an exceptional school year. We are aware that we will need to continue to address unfinished learning by using an acceleration model to fill in gaps in knowledge. Instruction will be focused on specialized skills and content needed to learn grade level materials while providing the appropriate tools needed to grasp concepts.
Partnering with families in the community is crucial in order to promote a healthy transition to school both socially and emotionally. We recognize that students may be feeling anxious with the start of a new school year, and we will continue to place a strong emphasis on social emotional learning while focusing on building classroom community. We encourage families to stay connected and informed by following our district website and announcements sent through our weekly newsletters.

CAR RIDER GUIDELINES
In an effort to ensure student safety, the following procedures are to be followed:
All drivers must refrain from cell phone usage. It is a school zone law.
We must keep the circle part of the pickup area clear for emergencies. Please do not pull into the circle until directed to do so.
All cars must pull all the way forward to the end of the drop off and pick-up zone.
We have limited parking, and it is reserved for our Truitt staff. Please do not park in these spaces.
Please do not drop off or pick-up by the bus ramp.
Please do not drop off or pick-up students on the street. Yorkpoint Dr. is not a drop off point.
As you exit the parking lot make sure you turn right ONLY.
Follow our staff members directions.
We share the car rider line with our Special Education buses, please be patient. They enter on the right side.
Line should only be on Hamstead Park. Not coming in from Addicks Satsuma.
Please be kind. Do not block the driveways and do not skip the line.
We appreciate your assistance with keeping our car riders safe!
