A NOTE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
After a successful first semester we are looking forward to what the second semester will bring.
Second semester serves as an opportunity to start fresh. Please continue to regularly check in with your students about their grades and attendance through Schoology and PowerSchool. Don’t hesitate to reach out to your students' teachers if you have any questions about their progress.
Dundee-Crown offers FREE tutoring during the school day and after school. We also have a testing center open during the school day in case a student needs to make up a summative or a formative assessment.
Tutoring During the Day:
Offered for Math, Science and EL courses during all four lunch periods
Located in the Library Media Center
If students want to come from lunch, they should go to the cafeteria first to eat and then ask the lunch supervisor for a 5 Star pass to the Library Media Center.
If students choose to come from their ASPs, they should check in with their ASP teachers first for attendance and then ask for a 5 Star pass to visit the Library Media Center.
We do have a limited number of spots available for each lunch period.
Tutoring After School:
Takes place from 3:05-4:05 PM in the following rooms:
English - Room 4
Math - Room 6
Social Studies - Room 27
Science - Room 8
Students do not need to schedule tutoring ahead of time. They just need to be in the classroom by 3:10 PM.
We do offer an Activity Bus that arrives at the Athletic Entrance at 4:05 and leaves by 4:15 PM. For a list of the Activity Bus stops, please CLICK HERE.
We are looking forward to another successful semester.

FEBRUARY - CELEBRATING BLACK HISTORY MONTH!
Spotlight on A. Phillip Randolph
In 1925, A. Philip Randolph established The Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters (BSCP), the first nationally recognized Black labor union in the United States.
Under Randolph's leadership, the BSCP expanded its mission to advocate for broader social and economic justice, paving the way for the modern Civil Rights Movement. Randolph went on to organize the famous March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in 1963.

READING TIME
In the past newsletters, we've discussed how important reading is and how it can be a shared experience. But what do you do when you are sitting somewhere, waiting, and you don't have a book? Ebooks are a fantastic way to always have a book with you wherever you go! Fox River Valley Library has access to Libby which is an app you download on your phone. Then anytime you want a book you just go to that app and either download a new book or read one you have already borrowed. Download Libby on your phone and your child's phone and use your library card to access the collection. You can put the ebooks on all of your Kindl devices as well. Don't ever leave home without a book again! Our challenge for you and your child: download a book from Libby and anytime you or your child start to scroll social media, switch to reading a book together! How many ebooks can you read this Winter?
Our cast and crew of the fall play, "Deadline," was honored to be chosen to perform at the Illinois High School Theater Festival held at the University of Illinois January 9th - 11th. Students were able to attend multiple workshops presented by professionals in the theater world and strengthened their theater arts skills! Our cast and crew then gave two performances of the fall play, "Deadline," which was attended by approximately 200 students from around Illinois. We are beyond proud of what this talented group of students accomplished while at the festival. They truly showed the rest of those attending the fest that Charger Pride is strong at D-C!
COME TO OUR D-CHS RESOURCE FAIR! SAVE THE DATE!
Dear Community Partners,
HABLEMOS is a school organization from Dundee – Crown High School whose purpose is to educate, inform, and provide our parents with the necessary tools to be present in their student’s education in all areas. This is accomplished by offering monthly evening meetings where professional speakers from the community come and present a variety of topics to our parents. Topics focus on several areas: educational, college awareness, motivational, and social-emotional.
Hablemos is planning an event that will take place at Dundee-Crown High School on Friday March 21 from 6-8pm. We are seeking support from community businesses and organizations as we ask you for your participation so we can make this event special for our community. The purpose of this event is to provide resources during the summer for our high school students and families. We believe that it is important for our students to stay occupied during the summer with positive activities that will help them gain experience in different areas, and that families are also aware of the resources available in the community. Thank you in advance, we appreciate your time and help.
We are seeking activities such as:
Internships
Volunteer opportunities
Youth Employment
Summer Camps
Community Resources for students and families
Gifts for raffles if you can't participate we can announce your organization or bussiness.
If you are planning on attending this event please complete this form by Friday, March 7. Any additional comments or questions please reach out to us. If you are unable to attend this event, and would be willing to donate any items for raffles, baskets or gift cards it is greatly appreciated.

International Fest -- March 26, 2025
Student and Families: On March 26, Dundee-Crown will celebrate the rich cultures and traditions of Chargers with our second annual International Fest. People throughout our community consistently remark that the diversity of our school is one of the best things about Dundee-Crown. We have a committee of students who want to create a way to celebrate our diversity.
The International Fest will take place on the evening of March 26, 2025 (starting at 6pm) in the Main Gym and will consist of a Flag Ceremony to kick off the event, a fashion show, performances, and tables sharing the culture, food, and music of different countries around the world. Participants will have the opportunity to visit each table to learn about the various countries we have represented.
In order for all of this to happen, we need staff, students, or families who are excited about helping with International Fest. Please consider hosting a table at this event. What does hosting a table mean? You would choose a country you or your group would like to put on display. You can provide pictures, clothing, artifacts, food (cannot be homemade due to allergies), and information about the country you choose to represent. You can also choose to participate in our fashion show and display clothing from your country or you can select to provide a performance such as a dance from your country.
Please sign up by completing this GoogleForm as soon as possible so that we can continue planning. If we have duplicates, we will reach out to see how we can differentiate, but if someone is excited about a country, we will make it happen!
