Dear LWSH Families and Caregivers,

Greetings LWSH Families, Caregivers, and Scholars,

I would like to begin my message by thanking our families for all of your support with creating a cell phone-free zone and exhibiting your active involvement through attending our family engagement events and communication with the school regarding absences and tardies. Your support means the world to us and the scholars we serve!

Just a couple of important announcements for the month of September that I would like to highlight. The first is a shift in our Yondr bag distribution. LWSH has purchased additional bags that will now be numbered, labeled, and assigned to students. They will expect to keep their bag daily and present it when they enter the building each morning. Students who do not bring their Yondr bag to school will be made to have it locked in a cell phone lock box that will be kept in the office under the care of administration and returned at the end of the day. The reason for this shift is that our Yondr bags are currently unlabeled and unassigned, and we are finding them to be compromised without knowing who on campus is destroying the bags. This new policy will hold each of our scholars accountable for their assigned bag. More information regarding this new policy will be forthcoming, and the system will be ready to implement beginning the Week of September 16th.

The next announcement is around our Parent PowerHub accounts that will allow you to view your child's grades in real time. This will reinforce our scholars remaining on-track for graduation with respect to passing their courses. With your support, we can intervene early for students who are currently struggling with any of their courses. Some of you received your unique username and password during our Open House, and those that were not distributed were mailed to homes last week. Please go to this website to learn more about our system. You can also contact the school at 216-838-7100 to get your unique username and password to access your account. More information can also be found below this section of the newsletter.

Please be on the lookout for upcoming IVRs via email and phone, so that you can receive the most up-to-date information for the start of the new year. As always, we appreciate your collaboration and involvement because it takes a village to raise a child, and we are happy that you chose our school community to be a part of that village! First Day at MetroHealth for Juniors and Seniors

All juniors and seniors are to report to the MetroHealth campus for their first day at their new school home. All scholars need to arrive and enter through Door 56 across from the parking lot on 2500 MetroHealth Drive. If being dropped off, you will want to pull up near this door which will be on the right-hand side up the stairs. Doors open at 8:10am and classes begin at 8:35am.

Scholars and families should look out for information for "whole-campus" days where the MetroHealth campus will be closed and all LWSH scholars report to the Main LW campus for the day. These are community building days that includes competition days, award ceremonies, and monthly / quarterly experiences.

Our 6-week grades in PowerHub will be updated for parents to view online. If you have not received your personal username and password to view your child's grades at our Open House or by mail, please call the school at 216-838-7100 to request this information.

Lincoln-West Produce Market

Come by and get fresh fruits and veggies for free at our Produce Market! This event occurs from 1pm - 3pm every 3rd Wednesday of the month beginning on Wednesday, September 18th. Pull up to the north parking lot nearest Clark Avenue and someone will assist you. Looking forward to seeing you there!!!

LWSH's Annual Father's Walk Event

It's that time of year again where we honor our LWSH fathers in our Annual Father's Walk that will take place on Thursday, September 19th from 8:45am to 9:45am. We ask that all fathers bring their child to school to enjoy breakfast together and a special presentation. We aim to have all of our fathers commit to staying involved in your child's academic journey!

Fathers will be encouraged to take the following pledge:

I am responsible for the education of my child.
I will encourage all children to do their best every day at school.
I will speak to my child about the value of learning and the importance of reaching your potential.
I will help with schoolwork and review assignments for completion.
I will praise my child when he/she does well in school.
I will speak with my child’s teachers and support them in educating my child.
I will teach my child the value of education and the value of family.
I will work with my child’s mother or guardian to achieve the best academic and social outcomes for my child even if I do not live with my child

If your child is a junior or a senior, you should arrive at the Main Campus for the event and then report to MetroHealth when the event has ended.

Hispanic Heritage Literacy Day

Come join us for our first Annual Hispanic Heritage Literacy Day!!! You and your family are invited to see the performances from our Hispanic staff and scholars to celebrate. You will also receive a book that explores Hispanic Historical events in English or in Spanish to enjoy reading and learning with your child. We will also provide all attending families with access codes to the Parent PowerHub to monitor your child's grades and progress! We hope to see all of our families at this exciting event!!!
